Sorry to keep asking questions.... but i'm looking for somewhere to spend our mini-moon (two days after wedding). someplace close and quaint and romantic, but not too expensive.
Is there anything to do in Narragansett in April? i've never been there....
Thanks for your help...

Re: Narragansett vs Newport
How close?
The Fingerlakes are GORGEOUS -- I highly recommend the Vinifera Inn at Belhurst Castle (stay in the Vinifera section, though, not the 'castle' section -- the Vinifera Inn is newer and the rooms are nicer AND less expensive).
Google 'Belhurst Castle' and you'll find the web site. The rooms all have jacuzzis and fireplaces and overlook the lake.

Re: Narragansett vs Newport
I lived in Narragansett for a few years... i love it there. After the wedding, FH & I are moving to East Greenwich, RI, just a few towns over. Newport is a little more of a self enclosed town where you can walk around day & night. You can take tours of the mansions & do some great shopping, etc... Naragansett is much more of a beach town, very laid back and more spread out. To be honest, I'm not sure you will find a whole lot to do there b/c the town really gets going in the warmer weather. It's packed in the summer. The beaches there are great & you have Hazard Rocks off Ocean Road which is the best place! Its these cliffs overlooking Naragansett Bay that you climb out on. Pack a picnic basket & you can spend the day there. But again, this is more of a warm weather thing. In April, you might be able to pull it off. It is only a 20 minute drive from Narragansett to Newport, so if you find that you are bored there, you can just drive over the bridge. I can recommend some great resturants in the Narragansett area if you want. There are some GREAT places to eat. FM me for more info.
HTH!

Re: Narragansett vs Newport
I used to go to the University of RI so i know both areas pretty well. Narragansett is really nice but it's full of college kids living off campus and the hotels in the area are extremely expensive because it is right on the water. Newport is similar to the hamptons kind of feel but more relaxed. Newport is definitely my favorite. They have a really nice marriot right in the heart of the town.
