Narrowed my DJ list down...

Anyone have any reviews on any of the following DJs:

Celebration Entertainment

After Hours
Dance Jock
FM Entertainment
Get in Tune
Step Lively
Variety Music
High Voltage
In the Mood
LI Sound
Parties Alive

I LOVE Phil from After Hours. He also did my cousins wedding and has been AWESOME so far!!

I loved LI Sound. When we went to see them they were laid back just enough for our taste and we booked them on the spot. THe day of the wedding they went over everything with me and checked in with me periodically through the night to see if I needed anything.

The dance floor was PACKED and I mean PACKED all night. I dont really dance and you couldnt keep me off the floor. People are stilll telling me they loved the DJ

We booked with a different company but Step Lively and FM were awesome and had great prices, not to mention very friendly.

That is a pretty large list...one thing that i have done when trying to narrow down vendors is to start by just emailing them. Email is my best way of communicating with vendors during working hours, so communication is pretty important to me.

Some vendors i NEVER heard back from...guess what? they were crossed off the list. if you cant respond to me as a potential client, what confidence do i have you will respond to me once i sign a contract.

We are also trying to stick within a budget, so pricing was a factor as well. I asked DJs for their pricing/package information. If it was reasonable I continued the discussion. If not, why even both negotiating?

Finally, after all of the other vendors, FH made it pretty clear that he did not want this to be the never-ending search. So with that said, I asked if it was possible to see their DJ/MCs live 'in action.' This is possible through DVDs, clips on youtube, a showcase performance, a private performance, etc.....Some DJ companies basically just kept trying to push a meeting. Others would set up a live performance, others sent DVDs in the mail, and others were performing at a showcase we could see. Those that did not send something or had something available for us to see were crossed off the list.

In short, our list got narrowed down to...
Tommy Tunes
FM Entertainment
After Hours
LI Sound

All were responsive in some way (some better than others)

Overall, we booked After Hours. Phil is one of the most professional DJs we have met with. He has 3 different DVDs for viewing - which showcase the MCs, add-on (lighting and live musicians). He also sent a complete price list and pricing information. PLUS he still was available to negotiate.

Tommy Tunes was our second choice, but Phil's personality and the package he gave us definately worked for us!

Anyone used FM Entertainment??? I contacted them, After Hours, and NYU Entertainment (a bit pricey, but they were recommended by a family friend who used them and loved them), and FM was the most affordable.... they are all sending me DVDs in the mail, so I guess I'll see who I like best, but I'm hoping I like FM since the price is right!!

I would use Phil from After Hours! He has the best reputation! He was booked for my date so if you can get him I would totally go for it!

He sent me a Youtube clip to view, and I watched a few of them last nite. I hate to say it but it looked like one of those lame dance parties where no one is having any fun!!! i sure hope their DVD is better - not a good first impression!!

We are using LI Sound. Our friends had them and NOT ONE person sat down. They played to the crowd. We booked them as our first vendor!

You should look at the DVD where Phil is the MC. He does 3 weddings on it. You should go for him though because he is by far the best one of the MC's and he is really honest. I wish I could have had him MC my wedding

We booked with Frank from FM Entertainment. We met with quite a few DJs, but the price and his personality fit us. After Hours was next. Really loved Phil and it was a hard choice...but FH made the last decision (I'm too indecisive). Quite a few ladies on 2010 booked FM as well.
