I'm new to the site, sorry if this has been posted before.
We are looking at reception halls for a June 2011 wedding. Since it is a popular time for weddings, a lot of the halls we've had recommended to us have minimums we can't meet (we will probably have between 100-125).
Can anyone recommend some smaller reception halls that would be worth checking out, with a reasonable price range? We are starting to look now so we are open to a lot of different places. Any great secrets out there we should look into?
(I've looked at the chart on this site, but the ranges are so varied and don't seem to always match up to what we are told by the hall. It probably has to do with the season).
We live right on the border of Nassau / Suffolk so anything besides the far East Ends are OK.
Thanks for the help!

It depends on what you are looking for, I am getting married in the Winter Garden Pavilion at the Fox Hollow, the room is perfect for a smaller guest list and is absolutely beautiful!!! FM me if you need more specific details!!!

Thanks! We are looking at Fox Hollow and Milleridge Inn this week so I will make sure to take a good look. Has anyone heard anything about Windows on the Lake or The Mansion at Timber Point? Someone mentioned those to me as well.

I loved the WGP, but it was too small for us.

Re: Nassau / Western Suffolk Smaller Halls
I plan to have a small wedding. Only about 50-75 people tops. when searching for halls, I looked at
Swan Club Sans Souci Douglaston Manor (Queens) George Washington Manor Verdis of Westbury (they have a small room) Westbury Manor (small room upstairs) Manor East (Massapequa) Coral House (they have a small room)
HTH.

We want to do it as cost efficiently as possible but we know we need to be realistic because of the season.
Most of the places we have seen so far have been in the $120-140 pp range (before gratuities, tax, etc). We'd love to keep it towards the lower end of that, of course if we absolutely fall in love somewhere slightly higher we might go for it also.

Most of the places I looked at quoted me much less than $120 pp. Westbury Manor quoted me $ 93/pp for a Saturday night in October. Swan Club was in the $70-80 pp range (also for a Sat night). Leonards - my RH - will be less than $65 pp (min of 50 guests). The key is negotiating minumums. Westbury Manor would have gone down to $ 88 pp for me but then I had to increase my min to 65 people.

Re: Nassau / Western Suffolk Smaller Halls
i loved George Washington Manor (backup RH). that is our minimum too (130 max). since the main room is on the smaller size, you can have saturday night with a lower minimum/no minimum. its reasonably priced too. our issue was the cocktail space but we were in December and inside. the space is nice if you can use the patio in the summer for cocktail!
(i also liked the Metropolitan, which is on the smaller side as well).
if you don't care about having it on a saturday night, other places are much more flexible with the minimums for other days. we went with milleridge cottage on Friday night since we couldn't meet the head count for Saturday. Depends on what you're looking for.
