Here's the latest critter I found wandering in my yard.
So far this spring/summer I've seen Woodchucks eating my echinacea (it's ok, they're cute) Tons of rabbits, chipmunks, ring neck pheasant baby racoons, possum all walking around in my back yard The land next to me is protected by the DEC, so that's where most of these guys live.
Do you see your turtle on a regular basis? Ours just came up one day and then took off...haven't seen him since.
We also have a cute frog that comes out of his hiding spot once a week or so.

I'm not sure if it is the same turtle, but we do see them relatively frequently. I live near some woods I think they live in. Actually there is a pond near here and one time I suggested FH move the turtle to the pond, but a neighbor said it was a land turtle so we kept him where he was. I put out some water and lettuce for him in a little dish but he didn't eat it. I love having animals living in the area though! I see frogs when I am out at night. They like to sit on the sidewalks. I haven't seen any raccoons around here though--I bet the babies are adorable!

We have all kinds of wildlife here, too. We have wild turkeys, pheasant, a flock of wild chickens, turtles, big snakes, beavers, you name it! We are also near protected land, so that must be what it is! Oh and the deer. Can't forget the deer. We have a road that leads down to our house that I call suicide lane because all the animals love to dart out from the woods right in front of you!

I love the wildlife! Growing up in Michigan we had woodchucks, pheasants and a red fox. Here we have what I call our pet yard bunnies. Last year and the year before, we had a bunny with a little notch in his ear (hence the name we gave him, Notch Ears) - we'd see him every few days - but haven't seen him this year
But this year we have what I'm sure is one of his offspring - a bunny we call Flash because he's so quick when he decides to dash away. He does let me get very close though, to take pictures. Here are two of my favorites.

The orange markings on the shell indicate that it is an Eastern Box turtle. They are dwindling in numbers due to the building and destruction of woodlands. They eat live food primarily and are indeed land turtles!! Good find!!

AWW!! Your bunny is a baby!! We have GIANT ones in our front yard!!
I'm a city girl so I love this stuff! DH laughed at me last week when I sat on our front porch with the tripod & my camera after I filled the bird feeder!!!
You must live somewhere around Port Jeff, because I live in Port Jeff Station and I am telling you that is the same turtle that frequents our yard! (We also have the bunnies and the blue jays, and we have orioles sometimes as well- don't you love it?)
