Is the garter belt/the whole garter belt toss thing necessary? I've just seen it at so many weddings and I'm kind of over it. I feel like I could be spending that time dancing and enjoying the party! Are there any variations on it, or are you just not doing it at all???

We didn't do the garter or the bouquet toss. IMO, it slows down the party and I just don't like either tradition. I've seen it turn into some very awkward moments at other people's weddings!

we are doing it, but slightly differently because it could get a little inappropriate and uncomfortable for the guests lol... our dj is going to make the girl put the garter on the guy- he said it's usually a big hit at weddings and is more silly than dirty

I would be more willing to do the bouquet toss, but I think I would be way too embarrassed to have FH take off my garter in front of our family, so I'm not doing that. I have never seen it done in a not awkward way and it's just not up my alley.

This, FH doesn't want all the attention on him for it, plus there won't be very many single guys. When my bro and SIL got married he put the garter on a football and threw the football which was cute. The guy and girl who did the catching didn't know one another so the dj blindfolded the guy and had him put it on another guys leg. It ended up being pretty funny but still not for me.

We are doing a bouquet toss but no garter toss. I always envisioned throwing the bouquet at my wedding ever since I was little. We will prob do it real quick before the party gets started so it doesn't interrupt the flow of the dancing.

Def not! We decided to not do the garter toss. I don't want to wear that thing on my leg all day/night lol I don't want FH going up my dress in front of everyone AND most of all I don't want ppl acting stupid/raunchy or anyone getting upset or jealous when it comes time for whoever caught the garter to put it on the girl who caught the bouquet. I will just be doing the bouquet toss.

I'm thinking of doing this instead. I don't really have that many single girls, and I feel like it gets awkward with a sparse crowd for the bouquet toss. I love the idea of the anniversary dance, and since my florist includes a toss bok it'd be nice to give it to an older couple.
