Need 06 brides' advice re: final meeting w/ DJ

07 bride with 1 month 2 weeks to go have a question for 06 brides.

When was your final meeting with the DJ? Our DJ last night on the phone with FI wanted our final meeting 4 days before the wedding!!! FI had an argument with him that that is not acceptable and he should respect and honor our wish instead of saying that he has too many showcases. My family members are flying 14 hours to arrive on the next day and can't drive 2 hours out to Suffolk-LI to do this .

I'd appreciate any feedback!

IMO - that is no big deal. i met with a lot of my vendors the week of my wedding. all you need to give the DJ is a play list (which is optional), what are your entrance songs you want, etc.

my final meeting lasted MAYBE 1/2 hr. i wouldnt freak out about it.

BUT if you cant make the appointment he wants to give you than simply tell him NO - you have family coming in and cant make it that day.

Our final meeting with the DJ was a month before the wedding. But that was mainly bc we were having CDs made for our BP and they needed the time to get them done.

Many vendors meet w/in the last two weeks before the wedding - mainly b/c so many things can change w/in that time period.

my final meeting with the dj was a few days before the wedding - i think on a tue and the wedding was on a saturday. don't worry, you should be okay. also, it was a pretty short meeting.

We met with our DJ 6 days before the wedding, it was maybe 1/2 hour long.
Maybe you can just have a conference call with your DJ if you can't make the trip to his place.

I didn't have a meeting with my DJ before the wedding. I faxed him a list of songs (must play & do not play) and I gave him the list of names for announcements etc. I talked it through with him on the phone and everything went great!!

we had a majority of final meetings the week before our wedding.

DJ- a month before
Photo/Video- 3 days before
Florist- 3 days before
RH- 5 days before

I think it was about a month before.. maybe they can move it up by a week?
Don't worry though, it won't take much time.

we also didn't meet in person with our DJ except when we signed the contract...we did everything else via email and phone and he did a great job at the weddding!

We actually met with our DJ 4 or 5 days before the wedding and everything turned out great, dont stress it will work out fine!

4 days before> Thats ridiculous! Thats way too crazy!!
I met with the Dj about 2-3 weeks before. and it worked out perfectly. A dj should know that thats way too much for a bride 4 days before the wedding.
Additionally, if u have to pay the balance, all the DJs usually except the rest of the balance in Ccash the day of the wedding [if thats an issue]
I'll call him and just change it to 2 weeks before, or even a week before to give more leeway!

eta- just looked at my bp, it was 2 weeks before, i remember me and DH had ALL out apts that week w/ the vendors. it was a crazy week!
