Need a Big Selection that allows tons of people to come with you (Bridal Stores)

Hi Girls,

Next week I want to go looking for wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses for the party. Plus aunts want to come and cousins. All in all there should be about 10-15 of us coming.

I need a store open late on a weekday (looks like Tuesday works for everyone), with a big selection, who allows a mob of people to take over it. Somewhere in Long Island is a must

These people are all just coming for this one time deal. There is no way around it so they MUST COME. This is my first time dress shopping and I'm not going to pick anything that day - just trying to get a sense of what I like in terms of style

honestly, i think that is way too many people!!

you should go gown shopping first with a smaller group, and then go bridesmaid shopping a separate time. if you have so many people, you may get too many opinions. of course, this is just my opinion and you may really want that many people there!!!

Dress shopping can be overwhelming...too many people may make it totally overwhelming. Opinions are good...too many are not.

I wouldn't bring a big group of people with you. No one will agree on one dress - someone will have a problem with each one. Trust me!! This will be a major headache.

eek! Lots of people. I would just bring your mom and BMs and bring everyone else back to see what you picked afterwards, jmo. It can get so crazy in a bridal salon w/ all the other brides there w/ their BPs and moms and all the sales girls. JMO

I agree with the other girls - too many people means too many opinions...I would go with your mom & BMs first then maybe after you think you've found something, go with the other group.

I got my wedding dress from Kleinfeld's in Brooklyn. Bridesmaid dresses from Avic on northern blvd. (Next door to Flamingo Cafe).

Well, when I went Wedding gown shopping, I only brought 2-3 people. When I went bridesmaid dress shopping, I brought 1-2 of the bridesmaids, and my MOH. But when i did decide on seperates, I needed all the girls there to pick out their tops, so nobody would argue. So I had about 14 people there at one time.

If you are going to bring that many people with you, I would definately call the shop first, in order to give them fair warning, and to let you know if they already have lots of appointments for that night.

I suggest Paradise Bridal in Patchogue. They have TONS of dresses. Bridal & Bridesmaid. And the store is quite large, so you won't be crammed. They are usually their slowest on tuesdays, and other week nights. They are open untill 9pm. Their phone number is 631-654-5020.

Not to mention, their gowns and BM dresses are in seperate rooms, so while you are looking at gowns, you can send the girls in to look at BM gowns, that way you are not too overwhelmed!

David's Bridal could accomodate the crowd, and will give you a chance to try on all the possible styles in your size, instead of just the sample size.

IMO, that is way to many people, they'll make you crazy. I went dress shopping w/ my mom, my MOH, & my sister(10) & that wasn't too bad. When we went shopping for the girls dresses I brought the same peopl plus my other MOH(I only 2 MOHs & my sister in the wedding) & that was chaos! Just way too many opinions! In the end, I choose to setup another shopping day with them & secretly(I know this was bad), met with 1 of MOH 45 minutes before everyone else got there & we choose about 10 to 12 dresses we both liked & then when everyone got there(they had no idea I planned this out), I had 1 girl try all the dresses on & what I liked I had everyone else try on, both dress styles came from that selection that MOH & I picked.

I know it is too many girls - but for this visit it can't be helped but I love these girls and they are all pretty good (just went through this for another cousins wedding)

Something a smiggen closer (preferably nassau if possible but I'm willing to travel)

i think you may have to call the salons to see, they may tell you that 10-15 people is too many. i would call the stores to see. the only experience i have with a bridal salon is at Boneventure in Garden city. the bridesmaid area is upstairs and very small- you may not fit there!

I have a greek family too...but I went with 7. Initially I was very excited at the idea of bringing all of those people, in the end, I regretted it.

It was stressful for me. 7 individual opinions, 7 sets of comments...dealing with who was tired, who needed to sit down....after a while I couldn't hear my own thoughts.

As far as space is concerned....7 people was tight. Remember, you aren't the only one there trying on gowns and those brides will also have people with them too. I'm not sure if anyplace you'll go will have enough room for 10-15 (that might be an easier way to cut down the attendees list).

They aren't all bridesmaids - perish the thought my aunts don't come and my grandma and her sister and everyone else lol It would probably be more around 10 but who knows with these people

Avic Bridal in Flushing (as posted earlier) is actually owned by a Greek gal named Stacy.

The store is tiny though - very narrow. They have a nice selection but nothing huge.

If you opt to order there, lie about your date. They didn't finish the hemming in my sisters gown until 6PM the night before her wedding! Talk about stress!

I know you wanted LI, but none of the stores I've been to here have the selection of dresses AND the room to accomodate all of your entourage! If you can swing it, try RK Bridals in NYC. Walking distance from Penn and it's a huge warehouse of a selection.
