Need a Catholic Church near CHCC...please help!

So this is my first post, though I've been reading all of yours for the past 6 months :). My FH and I got engaged in January 2011 and after looking at 30 venues in NJ, LI, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan we finally booked our venue (Crest Hollow County Club) about a month ago for June 2012. The reason for the widespread search was that I am from NJ, currently living in Queens and FH is from Suffolk County. My mom passed away from cancer this past May 2011 and then I no longer wanted it to be in NJ, since even going to my parents house is upsetting now for me.

I thought finding a wedding venue was challenging but now it turns out finding a church is even more of a problem.

My FH and I are both Catholic so it is important to us that we get married in a Catholic Church, but in addition I promised my mom a few months before her death that I would get married in a Catholic Church. I have already been denied by 3 churches in the surrounding area of CHCC b/c we are not parishoners. I am heartbroken and stressed. I don't want my guests from NJ to have to drive any further then they already have to in order to get to our wedding. FH and I have even considered cancelling our wedding and the rescheduling after we find a church. Any churches, priests, etc. near CHCC that anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry to hear

If FH is from Suffolk, the church he grew up in won't marry you? We got married in my childhood church even though I was living in DC at the time

No I think they probably will if we ask...though there are two reasons I don't want to get married in his church, First, I don't want my guests to have to travel further East considering they are already coming from NJ. Second his church is really small. The aisle in his church is only 4 rows long b/c the seating goes all the way around the church. I wanted to walk down an aisle with more than 8 steps. Maybe I'm being picky but we may end up there if nothing else works out.

I'm sorry to hear that! The same thing happened to me only once and I was soooo upset. I didn't want to call churches after that experience and my fiance had to do it instead because I didn't want to talk to any priests anymore. He handled it much better than I could so I just sat and listened while he called nicely.

Unfortunately I haven't heard of any church that allows outside parishoners very near CHCC. Keep calling or have him call instead and hopefully you'll get lucky! In the end it worked out for the fiance and me (for wayyyy out east) where we needed to be. Hopefully it'll work out for you too! There's so many churches and towns close by CHCC.... Huntington, Jericho, Syosset, Plainview, Muttontown, Cold Spring Harbor..
