Need a gift idea

My co-worker/supervisor/friend got engaged and I want to give her an engagement gift. Here's my problem, it's an arranged marriage. She's from India. So I can't really go with a gift from her registery, because she doesn't have one. She still lives at home and will until she gets married. I don't want to get her an appliance of some sort because I just don't feel that's an appropriate gift in this case. I thought about a photo frame, but she gave one to me for Christmas so it's kind of repeating.

Anyone have any ideas? If anyone knows of a 'traditional' Indian gift for an engagement that would be really helpful. If not, I'll just take any idea. I'm looking to spend no more than $50.
