need a hotel in manhattan for an FDNY dinner dance

FH is a fire fighter in midtown. His house wants to throw a dinner dance, something nice, but not too over the top. I told him if he went to some places and told them it was for an FDNY function, they might get a good deal.

Anyone work for a hotel or know of someplace in manhattan they should try?

When I worked in the city, we had our Christmas party in the Hotel Sofitel which is midtown and another year we had it at the Manhattan Penthouse. They were both really nice

The Manhattan Room which is above (and owned by) Rosie O'Grady's on 7th and 53rd (or 52nd) St.

The Secret Garden, Downstairs @ Trattoria Dopo Teatro, 125 West 44th St. (between 6th Ave. & Broadway)

Does it *have* to be in NYC? Because I know of places in Bronx/Yonkers/Queens that dinner dances are held at and I can give you the names of those places if you'd like.

i second manhattan penthouse... i looked at it for my wedding recep but it was too small. Hands down the BEST view you will get, and i thought it was very affordable compared to other spots in the city.

Try: The Roosevelt; Any of the Sheratons, the Millenium, The Marriot East Side, The Empire, The Grand Hyatt.

I third the Manhattan Penthouse. Great view, good price, easy-to-get-to location (14th and 5th).

We are going to look at these places. They have to find a hotel nearby or have it in a hotel, because the guys are either from LI or way upstate.

Maribelle, that's why they decided on manhattan, because it's the midway point and that's where they work. I told them they should consider other areas, but let's see what price quotes they get first!!

Giggles....no problem. I was thinking of the Polish Center in Yonkers but it's not near any hotels. In queens there's the Tower View but again I don't think it's near any hotels.

The Manhattan Room is across from the Sheraton. But I odn't know how many it holds. Not more than 200. May not be big enough for you.
