FH and I have been visiting photographer after photographer and I now feel we're running in circles.
We found one that we like in terms of personality, really like in terms of pictures and album layout and who has good prices. The problem is, there is one type of album that we like far better than others and he has none of them available for us to see. (They're not hugely popular right now, so they don't have them in stock.) He said he can get it for us if it's what we want, but we basically have to order it sight-unseen (he sent us an e-mail with pictures of the albums, but he can't actually get his hands on a sample for us to see).
I don't like any of the options we're left with, which as I see are as follows:
*We spend all that money on something we've never seen, not knowing what the quality is like.
*We get an album with a cover we don't really like.
*We go with another photographer.
I think all those choices are ridiculous, so I have NO idea what to do. Am I being unreasonable? Am I being a bridezilla? Can anybody offer a solution that we haven't thought of?
Thanks for letting me vent!

I think most places have referred to it as a hard photo cover album.

I know my photographer does that. He is making our guest book like that. If you are looking to change photographer let me know. If you want to stay with this photographer if you have the rights to your pictures than you can used snapfish and make one for yourself.

Is it like under an acrylic cover? My photg does that. I really think you should continue looking. You have this person as a back up and you have a little over a year. There is no need to settle. With the amount of photog's out there, def get what you want and make sure you are comfy with it.

It's not the ones under the acrylic cover. Those are what we are finding EVERYWHERE... We're not crazy about the acrylic. The hard photo cover is basically just a hard cover book with the photo printed right on the cover.

I ended up going with the acrylic photo cover but I think Patken photography does the exact type of book that you are looking for. You pick a picture and they can wrap that picture as the hard cover. Check them out...

My advice is pick the photographer from the quality of his work and because you love his style, not the album options they offer. You can always take your proofs and have an album made by someone else :)

we made a photo book with a hard cover from mixbook.com for our e-pics and it came out great so I suggest pick a photographer based on the style of their pictures and not the book

We WERE talking about that... We DO get the rights to the photos with the photographer we like, but we didn't know if anybody would do the album for us with someone else's photos. (Plus we really like how he does the layout design...) We considered Snapfish or something of the like, but it just isn't the same quality as a professional album.
Does anybody know someone who will create a professional album with someone else's pictures?

I don't know if they will but my photographer Visual Concepts has AMAZING album covers that I haven't seen at other places. They even have a hard metal one that has the picture engrained it. Its weird but cool. But they have the one you are talking about. Call them up...they are right in Islip and print their own photos in their studio so they don't have to send stuff out so you can save some $$.

Oh and they are a vendor on there so you can type in Visual Concepts in the LIW search box. Their names are Bob and Debbie if you contact them.
