Need a reasonably priced home engineer...

Hi Ladies,
We need a reasonably priced engineer...I'm not really sure how much they charge but I know I want a licenced engineer and not just a home inspector. Any suggestions on who to go with? I really am looking for someone that will give us an informative report on our home and not some cheesy checklist. Any help is greatly appreciated..
