need a wedding role for a friend

Hi...I have a good friend who is traveling from California to come to our wedding. She is actually coming to visit next week, the last time she will be in NY before the wedding in Feb. I really want to give her a role in the wedding, but all the ceremony positions have been given (BP, readers, gifts). Should I ask her to give out the programs or petal cones? Are there any other ceremony jobs that I am forgetting? or any other ideas, maybe for the reception?

Originally i was going to have the guys in the BP give out the programs and girls in the BP give out the petal cones at the end. Only because I dont think those jobs dont really hold too much distinction - am I wrong in thinking that? My friend is traveling the farthest for my wedding and I really want her to know how thankful I am, not put her to work.

thanks in advance for you thoughts and ideas!

Can you add an extra reading? just seems like handing out petal cones may not be enough?? If you are having a mass she could carry up the gifts to the altar

I think having her give out programs or some other little role is just enough. That's what a friend of mine did, her BP was huge and she had readers, etc. so she gave me the role of giving out the tissue packs, programs and bubbles. Honestly I felt very honored she asked me to do anything

i agree with melissa- my best friend got married and she only had her cousins in the bridal party and she asked me to decorate the ceremony location & i thought it was the nicest thing just being included.

Actually in the midwest, they have host and hostesses. My parents were the host and hostess at the church, and they were involved with all that kind of stuff

umm you can have her read a poem maybe something like this its by elizabeth barret browning. its called how do i love thee

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Not sure if you are religious or not, but you could have her say Grace before everyone eats dinner at the reception.
