I'm getting married next year but need advice from any 08 ladies who might have had the same situation. I ordered a wedding gown and its very pretty but I have changed my mind about it and have since found the dress that I would love to get married in. The problem is the store owner is not being very cooperative. He basically said that he would keep 60% of the price of the dress and I could only transfer the rest onto another dress in his store. He doesnt carry the dress that I want. I'm very STRESSED out about this whole dress situation. I heard this has happened to girls before?? Anyone have this happen and if so, what did you do? any advice out there? I would really appreciate it. Thanks for listening.....

Re: need advice.....
Sorry that you are having a hard time. I would either pay off the dress and try to sell it yourself and then order the other dress.. Or Give your origional dress another shot! Maybe you need to put it on again before you really decide

I second this
give your original dress another try on and make sure..
There are soooooo many dresses out there and we keep looking and see other things and I admit it I was close to doing the same thing but I retried my dress on with all the extras and saw that it is the perfect dress for me.

Re: need advice.....
I love this other dress and know I really won't be happy if I keep the dress I ordered. Where would I sell it though? Ebay? is there a particular website that I could try to sell it on? This *****, at least I didn't spend a ridiculous amount of money on this dress. It still ***** to loose money though, any amount.

I did the same thing . I did get a little bit of a hard time but they did not order the dress yet so I was lucky to get all of the $$ back. Even though it said no money back once ordered Some girls on here have had paid for 2 dresses and tried to sell the first one. My suggestion Dont put any money down on anything until you have looked around alot. You usually have a good 6-8 mo lead time to get a dress depending on which designer you get.
Sorry you are having such a hard time. Check the contract you signed and see what it says. Maybe the owner would cut you a deal if your family member or bridal party would buy there..
Good luck
and once you do find THE dress stop looking. You will always find something else to like. Dont make yourself nuts

Re: need advice.....
Sorry this is happening to you. My salon misordered my gown and would not do anything to correct the situation but offer me 4 fittings (all of which I had to pay for) or lose my deposit on the gown and order another. I ended up ordering another gown - from a different salon!

Re: need advice.....
They told me they ordered the dress already about a month ago. But for some reason I dont really believe them. Why would they order it so early? (2 weeks afer I put down a deposit) I wish there was a way to check if they really ordered it myself!

yea that seems really odd that they would order it so early.
Sorry that you are going through this, but I would be hestitant about buying another dress right away, because between now and your wedding day you could change your mind a couple times, I waited until the last possible second to order mine. good luck

I learned my lesson from this whole experience, I wont be putting any money toward another dress until the last minute.

Re: need advice.....
I am so sorry you are going through this...i went through this 3x! I just couldn't decide and it killed me. The first place gave me back the deposit it was only 90 bucks and it was the day after and my first time dress shopping. I went to another place though I found it ordered it and than 2 months later cried when i tried it on again, hated it! They told me I had to pick another dress from their store since it was starting to be cut and it had to be the same designer...on my lunch hour i picked another dress with no family there...thought I loved it again and it was more expensive...mother in law hated it, my mother was quite about it...in turn i hated it....i ate the deposit and paid a 200 cancelation fee!!!! and ordered a new dress started from scratch...i kill myself over losing that money but I couldn't imagine paying that much for a dress i wasn't gaga over buying. FH told me if I wasn't going to be happy with that dress he didn't want me to buy something I didn't love. I think no matter what there will always be something out there that you love or pretty dresses, if you feel strongly enough that this isn't the dress for you than really try to work with them and see if they can do better. I am sure they want to keep your business. FM me if you have any questions.
