Need Advice

My fiance and I just bought our first home. Last night we asked the priest from our new parish to come to our house and have it blessed. We invited my parents, his parents, our siblings and my aunt and uncle. My dad's friends daughter lives across the street from us. Low and behold they were having a party and what does my dad do? Invites all of them over for a drink even after I told him no. And he does it anyway. I was so upset last night. It was supposed to be a nice quiet evening together and he ruins it.

Does anyone have parents who do things like this all the time? How do you deal with it? FH is so mad about the whole thing. The only time we fight now is when it involves my parents butting in. I don't know what to do. FH says he doesn't want to upset me and that he wants to talk to my dad about it. But it is upsetting and I don't understand why FH won't let me deal with my dad. Its not the first time he has done something like this and I doubt it will be the last. Anyone have any advice they could give?

You should talk to your dad for sure-- the longer you let it go the worse it will get.

And if you're uncomfortable talking to your dad about it then let your FH handle it for you--- you just have to get it all out in the open ASAP so that it doesn't keep festering!!

DH and I live a few houses down from my inlaws and the number one thing you have to do is set boundaries up front- or trust me, you'll regret it later on!
