Since I see everyone having questions about their BP I have one as well
Mind you I have not asked anyone to be in BP.
I have 3 friends that I grew up with. After we all had kids we stay in touch but usually on the holida, birthday, baby showers and things like that.
I know 1 of them (that lives here) is going to be my Matron. I would love to have the other 2 as well.
Here is the thing
Both live out of state: (not a big deal)
Girl #1
Did not even show up to her own baby shower here in NY. I went while I was 8 1/2 months pregnant.
Always been a little on the flaky side
Girl #2
We really only talk like once a year but it's okay.
Also, I really would not care if the day of they didn't show up. It's not my style, my wedding is about FH & I joining our family together. The only thing I am asking of my BP is to get their dresses. I don't care about the shoes, hair, makeup, showers or any of that stuff.
So my question is do I ask them and if they show up great, if not oh well or just not ask them at all.
I know this is long thanks for reading. Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Need Advice about BP (very long)
if you think it will cause more stress to include them, then don't ask them. you don't want BMs who don't care about you and aren't excited to do their part. you have enough to worry about with all the other planning!

I would ask them! If you are debating whether or not to ask them then obviously in a perfect world you would ask them. So I say ask them and if they say yes, GREAT. If they say no you said yourself you wouldn't be hurt!

I am going to be totally honest and say no way!!!!!! For weddings, it is not just about bp members not showing up, it's about that ruining your scheduling, do you want to be late to your wedding because one of them just doesn't show up? It's ruining the plans you have already included them in like the rehersal, rehersal dinner, pictures, ceremony getting their hair and makeup done and all that stuff !!!!! what bride needs that stress????

Thanks ladies..I think I am going to call both of them over the weekend and see if they think they can do the dresses and get her the day before so at least if they don't show up the day before I will know not to include them and not be stressed.

Actually I would love for them both to be a part of the wedding. I am just not sure they will be reliable. I guess after I speak to both of them I can make a better decision
I have been putting off asking my bridal party because of this

Re: Need Advice about BP (very long)
i would ask them i had the same situation with my moh and bm. i wanted to ask both as they were childhood friends but moh was a flake and not of the same culture as me and she can be a bit unreliable but truthfully she was the only shot i had as a moh and for my bm we stopped talking not because of any reason in particular just time apart i guess... both lived out of state and i rarely ever had contact with either of them. but they both showed up in their dresses on the day of the wedding and that was all i really asked and cared about. i was sad during the process and hearing about other girls events and bridal parties that i didnt get the same treatment but it was ok. i say go for it. you want them there and it sounds right. better to have two by your side on the day of rather than alone.

Thank you so much I'm glad it worked out for you. Hopefully they will both want to. I'm pretty sure 1 is hoping I ask her because she made a reference right after we got engaged but I had no thoughts of BP at that time..I was still on engagement high
