NEED ADVICE ABOUT ENVELOPES??

NEED ADVICE ABOUT ENVELOPES??

I have pocketfold invitations and the envelopes are 7.5 x 7.5. The envelopes are stardream Quartz (the shinny material ) and I don't know how to have them addressed.

I heard that you need a special printer because hand calligraphy won't work and if you don't have the right printer it won't work either. I called paper presentations and they want to charge $135 to address them . Any advice will be so helplful. I think $50 to print them by printer is fair, but $135 is a little too much.

Also, what kind of font should I use?

how many envelopes do you have? $135 may not be that unreasonable. you could also print on cardstock and glue it on, like people do with some boxed invites, but the cost of that adds up and you need to make sure it wont fall off in transit.

what are your options?

Really? WOW, I thought $135 would be reasonable if it was calligrapy but not for just a printer. I was quoted $150 for personal calligraphy but it just won't hold on that kind of envelope. I mean I could buy the printer for that price and do it at home. I only have 95 envelopes. Do you know what kind of printer to use? Would staples do it? What about kinkos?

Thanks for the advice

Hmmm for 95 envelopes $135 isn't an amazing price unless it's digital calligraphy, especially if you were quoted hand calligraphy for only $15 more. Be careful: hand calligraphy isnt created equal, and cheaper isnt always better. I've seen some people consider (and rule out) some horrid hand calligraphy on here.

I don't really know about printing on that type of paper, our envelopes were linen. Maybe another LIWer has the right kind of printer and you could pay them $50 or $75 to do it for you?

It's worth calling Staples or Kinkos, but make sure they know what they are doing especially if you dont have that many extras.

Good luck. This must be so frustrating!

Thanks for the advice!!! I am actually thinking about returning the envelopes (they are more trouble than anything) and getting the linen ones Did you print yours?

I would say get the linen envelopes. If you want 'shiny' get the envelope liners in the shiny material. That's what I did!

I have stardream gold cardstock and was able to print on them. You have to change the setting on your printer to high gloss or transparency.
The other option is to use clear adhesive label so the Quartz (the shinny material ) shows through the label.

How about this?

YaY! you did great.
I got a lot done too. I tried addressing my envelopes with calligraphy. My MOH proof read a lot of stuff for me. And she put cardstock inside the envelopes so the rhinestone buckle doesn't tear the envelope.

Thanks I am so proud of myself I am glad you got a lot done today. How did the envelopes come out? I love my envelopes so I will probably try addressing them at work with the laser printer (of course after everyone has left the office : )

I think I need guide lines. It's all over the place. I'm pretty happy with them for my first attempt. What do you think?

Thanks.
I need to practice some more. A really nice LIW bride send me photos of her calligraphy. Mine are done based on her samples.

lucamon is right about the paper. It would be great thru laser, but PITA with inkjet, but it caan be done. Each envelope will need to be taken out and let dry for 24 hours, to make sure that it won't smudge. Good luck!
