need advice and to vent...

When I met my FI he was friends with another couple. Right away the girl was never really friendly with me. She would blatenly not talk to me sometimes (I think because I was the new person and was 'intruding'), and once at a party she said to my FI and a ex-girlfriend that she wanted to take their picture - because it looked so romantic...I was right next to them! Well since then, the couple broke up, but she is now dating my FIs best friend and roommate. She has not been over to the apartment since September, and we have not really seen her much since then. Well, I just found out that they will be away for our engagement party. BUT she also said she wouldn't want to go even if they were not going on vacation. Now my FI and his best friend are in an awkward position and I can see it is putting a strain on their long relationship. I even feel like I'm in an awkward position, why would I want to be friendly with a girl who was not friendly to me in the first place, and does not want to share in our celebration? What would you guys do?

That`s a pretty awful thing to say, even if she was thinking of it. No class at all. For some reason it sounds like she clearly wants to hurt you, with that, and the comment about taking the picture. Is it possible that she had her eye in your Fi and resents you because he choose you? Sounds like she`s not a very pleasant person. Maybe the best thing to do is for Fi to do guy things with his buddy and not worry about doing the couple thing. I`d keep my fingers crossed that she`s not with Fi`s best friend very long!!! Good luck - don`t let her unpleasantness ruin your happiness - she`s not worth it.

I have a very similar situation. If it seems awkward when all of you are together, let it be because of her not because of you. For your FI's sake (even though I know it's hard)just be civil (aka FAKE) to her. Don't tell your FI that you refuse to hang out with her - it seems she's taken the BAD GUY role upon herself already just by saying she wouldn't have come to your party. Let it stay that way.

I think you should stay away from the couple get togethers too. But I'm one for asking straight out if there is a problem. Maybe this would make her realize what an ass she is being. I know you don't want any sparks to fly but don't let anyone treat you bad either. Good Luck and pray they break up. :)

I really feel for your situation, I have been in a similar one with an ex-boyfriend and my old roommate. Since she is really the one with the problem, I go along with what chr2027 says and just be civil with her when you have.

I agree with other posters when they say she`s interested in your fiance. Why else would she keep dating individuals directly connected to him? I`d steer clear of this chick and her issues. I know it`s an uncomfortable situation but she`s the one who`s made it that way. It shouldn`t pose a problem if you all don`t get together that much. And I don`t agree with other posters in terms of being civil (fake) to her. Be as real as possible. Since she doesn`t like you already, why play the game for this idiot? Some people are just miserable, period and that sounds exactly like her. No matter how many fake smiles you put on, it`s not going to alter her opinion of you, especially if she`s got a thing for your man. My advice, if your fiance`s best friend approaches you on a couples night out event, I`d simply tell him that`s cool with you but that you feel that his girlfriend has a problem with you (and you don`t know why) and maybe she wouldn`t feel comfortable? I`d throw that crap right back in her court. Why should she make you feel like the outsider when you`re the sure thing and she`s just looking for an 'in'? And don`t sweat her not coming to your party. Who needs her there anyway with her lousy attitude? Her little 'picture perfect' moment with Fi`s ex was shady. Bitch!

She is probably jealous of you, you sound like a person with a lot going for her. Avoid her as best you can and when you're around her 'kill her with kindness'. It will probably turn your stomach while doing it, but she will be the one who ends up looking ridiculous. Hang in there!
