Need advice... Crest Hollow CC and others? (LOOONNNG, SORRY!)
Church wedding in Brooklyn, looking for venue just for reception....
FH and I visited CHCC... the grounds are fantastic, but we're concerned about some of the reviews we've read. Most of them give awesome feedback, but a few have said that some of the wait staff was rude and that the entrees weren't fantastic. Also, that the poolside cocktail hour was good except that with more than one wedding happening, they were setting up and breaking down one side for one wedding while the other party was going on on the other side... don't like that.
The rep was fantastic though, squeezed us in for a tour at 1 when we called at 11 on Sunday. So patient and thorough.
We're weighing this against Russo's on the Bay right now (Vetro's, actually, because of the size of our party)
PROS for CHCC
Beautiful grounds for photos, wandering AND CH
Poolside CH
Menu more to our taste
More places for out of state guests to stay
CONS for CHCC
If it rains, we lose the beauty of the grounds, the biggest draw...
Not sure what the food is like, some reviews say entrees are iffy
Up to 3 events at once is craziness
PROS for VETRO
I'll be the only bride that day
New, so no one we know will have been there before
similar to the room in Russo's we liked
Can't seem to find any negative feedback on food or service
I fit rains, we'll still know exactly what we're getting
CONS for VETRO
Gardens are small, would need another photo site
No outside capability for CH
Menu is good, but less to our tastes... (Nothing Polish for me!!!)
On CBB, meh
Fewer places in not as nice area for guests to stay
Price wise because of the gurantees and size of our party (120-150) it comes out about the same. We have othe rplaces to look at, but being that I now really want a beautiful outdoor cocktail hour and am concerned about multiple events at once, does anyone have advice about what to consider, about these places or about other's on LI NOrth Shore?
Are there things I'm not considering? We just got engaged on the 7th and we''ve just started our search but we want to book ASAP, within the month to six weeks to make sure we get our date because it's significant to us.
We've eliminated Chatueu Briand, Fox Hollow Inn, El Caribe, and the Woodlands. We have about 10 more places on the list of possibilities to look at mostly on LI
I know this was long. Primarily because it's helping me think everything out, but if you've made it this far, thanks so much, I appreciate any advice you have to give! Thanks!
