Hi! I keep on posting different questions on hotels and distance to the reception, but I think the best way for me to do this is just post the dilemma.
There are 2 hotels super close to my reception....both for a relatively expensive wedding rate (well I think it's expensive - about $175 + tax and an additional $10 for parking). I would have to provide the transport to and from the reception.
Another hotel is about 15 - 18 or so minutes away....$30 cheaper for the rate, free parking, and discounted shuttles to the reception (that I would pay).
What do you guys think? We are not having a TON of OOT guests, but I would hate to make those that are OOT-ers pay so much! (even tho most of them are family, and would prob pay either rate). But, in addition to that, it's a Sat night wedding, and I would like our friends to have the option of staying over - esp if they drink! I don't want them NOT to have that option b/c the rate is too high. And blocking off at 2 hotels is not optimal, b/c FIL's are throwing a brunch the next morning, and want everyone at 1 hotel.
So....any advice would be appreciated!! FIL's are coming in for the day tomorrow to look at these hotels, and want to make a decision tomorrow!
HELP! Thanks girls!

I would go with the cheaper hotel... JMO 15 minutes is not far at all... plus you are providing transportation and even that is cheaper as well....

I honestly think you should go for the lower rate.

I would block rooms at both hotels and let your guest decide which price range is best for them. It is not the end of the world for them to drive a few minutes to get to brunch the next day.

Re: Need Advice Deciding! HELP!
what is the difference in quality of the 2 hotels?
you know your guests. is an extra $30 going to kill them on an already exorbitant amount? i tend to always go for convenience, but this case it's tricky... would the extra 15 minutes put them over 30-45 minutes from the reception?

Re: Need Advice Deciding! HELP!
we blocked rooms at 2 hotels -- the brunch was at the further away, more pricey one, and a good amount of people came to it. so i suggest blocking at both places and let guests choose!

Re: Need Advice Deciding! HELP!
Pick a hotel to have the brunch at based on which hotel you want to have the brunch at.
Block rooms at both hotels, give guests a choice. Tell the OOT guest about the brunch before they book their hotels so they can decide if they want to spend the extra money or travel time.
