Need Advice for FH

Need Advice for FH

FH started a new job on 7/1. He doesnt really like it and the pay stinks but of course we need the money. When he interviewed they said it was XX amount of money and 40 hours a week. He gets hired and it was less money and only 37.5 hours a week. The only reason he took it was because he was being laid off because the company he worked for is closing.
He went on an interview today (called in sick) and they want to see him again on thursday. He doesnt know what he should tell his current job. Any ideas?

i'd be up front and honest. he's in a position where he needs a certain pay and a certain number of hours, he was hired because he was told thats what he would get. Now that things have changed he has to look somewhere else. FH was in a somewhat similar position, and he was lucky enough to have a boss who found him a job with the same company in a different department for more money and more hours. Good luck with things tho.

I agree, just be honest. He should tell them he needs more hours and money. Plus, you can add in 'well I have a wedding to pay for'

while he was being hired for this job he had mentioned we were getting married. After the guy told him it was for 37.5 hours he asked for 40 hours a week because we needed the money they guy said no because sometimes they have to work late and this is to ensure that they dont pay overtime.

I would lie and say I was sick again lol (I know thats bad) but it doesnt seem that the company he is now is being very caring to his needs and allowing him to work the hours they promised. I wish your FH the best of luck.

so he was hired at xx amount for 37.5 hours but is getting less? Or is he getting less b/c he's not working the 40 hours.

Tell whoever he has to tell if it's the 1st case. I had that happen to me and opened my mouth as soon as I saw it on my 1st check. That's $$ damnit!!

I also wouldn't say a word until I had another job landed in terms of leaving. they might just let him go knowing he's looking for another job

Also, even if the other interview doesn't pan out and your Fh stayed 6 months, he could then put it on his resume!

had to reread so i'm editing. what i would do about the 2nd interview is try and take it during lunch or at the end of the day and leave a little early. i honestly wouldn't take another 'sick/personal' day. he's too new and still needs the job for the time being

Before he was hired they said it was $XX at 40 hours. after he was hired it went to 37.5 hours. He did mention it to his boss and he said there wasnt anything he could do.

his boss ended up calling tonight. he told him he had to leave early on thursday that he had to go for some medical testing.

incase he doesn't get the new job he may not wanna be sooo honest at his current job. I'd say I was really sick or had a important doctors appointment due to not feeling better from the first time I was sick.... honesty is great, but a steady paycheck is necesary
