Re: Need advice: lost dress

Honestly? Get yourself to a local bridal salon having a sample sale and buy a new dress off the rack and have it altered.

You don't have time to keep waiting for something that looks like it won't happen.

I hope you get your money back.

Good luck. Maybe ask if anyone knows of any local sample sales going on....

I would wait it out. You paid for the dress. They need to take care of this situation either way. They can not just leave you without a dress because you paid for it already. I hope that I helped you out a little.

Do not wait it out. In the mean time look for alternatives. There maybe some stores that are willing for you to buy off the rack. Also if you really want that dress you should try to fit it first because of the big size difference. Please try to get your money back. HTH

sorry.

First off, if you decide to buy the second dress, they should COVER the cost difference (why in the world should you pay 150% more when they made a mistake?) AND they should reimburse you for your first dress.

In other words, if you get the smaller/different color version of the original dress you ordered, you should still only be out the same amount of money you originally were going to pay.

I would wait it out til the end of the day. If they cannot find your original dress, confirm that they will reimburse you the cost of getting the new smaller/different color dress (if you are ok with getting that one) and if not, then your best options are probably:

1. Find out if there are any sample sales this weekend. Go and see if there's a dress you love etc.

2. Go to David's Bridal and get a dress off the rack OR order it - they can sometimes get a dress in a week or two.

Alterations do NOT take a month, despite what we are told over and over. You can pay to have the alterations rushed or just tell the seamstress the situation and see if they'll charge you the same despite the possible rush.

Can you post a pic of your original dress and your current size? Maybe some of us can find a similar style for you somewhere?

I have indeed been looking at alternatives. Every single sample dress I have seen of this dress, an Anjolique 708, is an ivory, bridal size 10. I ordered in white, bridal size 6 (I am actually closer to a bridal 4 but I ordered a 6 in case I gained weight). Plus, all samples are obviously used..

I think, at this point, that unless they come up with your dress by the end of the day, you should give it up. Not just on your dress, I mean that particular gown from that manufacturer. Make them refund your money, and start looking for another gown, either off the rack, from eBay--you can get some impressive dresses from eBay--or from the Bridal Garden, something like that. This is the nightmare of all brides, that the dress you lovingly chose never shows up. I'm just afraid that you'll spend the next month trying to track down that particular gown, you won't find anything that fits and then you'll have *nothing* to wear, and you'll end up wearing something you found in an afternoon that you grabbed off a rack. You still have five weeks, you could find something gorgeous in that time!

Good luck.

If I were you I would try looking for something off the rack. go to www.nordstrom.com. They have some wedding dresses. Also try going to jcrew.com. Maybe you can do a rush order and have time to go get them fitted. It really stinks that this had to happen to you, but you still have time to try to get something. here are some pictures of possibilities for you. The first 2 are jcrew. I dont know what you look like or what your taste is, but these are very simple and may be a good option. They also have a couple more on their site. The last 2 are from nordstroms- but they also have many more. Def look on their site. I hope this helps you!!

Also, check out their return policy. You could get one of these and maybe even return it if you end up with your original dress!

Re: Need advice: lost dress

Ok so I went onto David's Bridal and found a few dresses that are similar to your Anjolique dress (obviously not the same, but similar styling).

I would go to David's Bridal as soon as possible and try on these dresses below - EVEN IF YOU DON'T LOVE THEM IN THE PICS! Honestly. You may try it on and LOVE it in person - it has happened to so many brides. So check out the pics, print them out or write down their style numbers, and walk into a David's Bridal and tell them you'd like to try them on and see if they have it in your size or if they can order for you for quick delivery.

**You can click on 'See Alternate View' to get a better idea of the styles**

1st dress: (just wear without the bolero jacket!)
Dress 1

2nd dress (partial corset style, but similar bottom and top of bodice)
Dress 2

3rd dress (no train, but maybe you like the style???)
Dress 3

Hope this helps!
Edited to fix link.

Where do you live? Are you near Suffolk?

No matter what, I'd start a complaint with the better business bureau ASAP!!!!!! My bridesmaid dresses didn't come in time for my wedding. I had opened a complaint with the BBB about 1 month before my wedding. At least it got my money back in a professional manner.

Good luck. I'm sure the ivory will look gorgeous.

Just something to think about -- ask your tux place to switch the guys shirts to Ivory as well, so your dress doesn't look dingy in the pictures. They should definitely be able to do that for you easily!

I agree with Mrs.Q2007.... I'd call the shop, TELL them you are about to buy this other dress, and give them till 5pm to positively locate your gown or else help you out with this one. They are in a binding contract to supply you with the gown. If they can't, they must make other arrangements!

It's not the week of your wedding, so you're not forced to do something extreme at the moment.... so I'd try to keep your paws on the gown style you love!!!
