Need advice - mini vent

Hey girls,
So I'm going BM dress shopping with my bridal party this Saturday and I've been having some problems with one of my bridesmaids and of course it's family!

She never has a sitter for her 1 year old b/c her husband works all the time and their parents are too old to watch a baby, so she ends up bringing him EVERYWHERE.

I sent out a mass text to my BP letting them know what time to meet up Saturday, and she wrote back stating that she'll be there with her son. Now I totally understand that she loves bringing him everywhere, but do you think it's a good place to bring a baby?! I don't! And when she's trying on dresses who is going to watch him?

Am I just being a selfish bridezilla? Maybe, right?

If I'm not and you would be annoyed about this too, what would you say to her to let her know not to bring him, with out coming off like a b*#&^?

Definitely not a place to bring a baby. I had 5 adults try on dress and it was a little chaotic. You had to have them constantly switch dresses to see how it looked on everyone.
The bridesmaids space is small at places and the stroller/baby will take up some precious space.

If she can't find a sitter than she will have to go with what the group wants. You have to be honest with her and tell her it's not the proper place to bring the baby.

I definitely would not bring a baby. It's going to be chaotic already with all the girls trying on dresses. You don't need to add on a crying baby to the chaos. I would tell her that it might be too much for the baby and everyone else there and you want to make it as stress free as possible.

I went BM dress shopping four times with different combinations of girls: twice with kids, twice without.

The times the kids were there were tough. When my one friend brought her 10 month old, he was SO good, but it was tough to keep juggling him/passing him around as everybody tried on the dresses.

The day my other friend brought her two pre-school boys, it was a nightmare. *I* spent most of my time there chasing them around, trying to get them out from under the racks, pulling them out of dressing rooms, etc. Granted, they are two very rambunctious boys, so your experience could be different, but I couldn't WAIT to get out of there that day, and I'll bet that the staff and other customers in there were pretty happy to see us go, too...

totally not selfish. I remember trying on dresses months ago and someone had a 2 year old running around the store. he stepped on my dress I had on like 5x and his family was too busy to really watch him. times like that kids/babies need to stay home.

bm dresses is even worse because if it's anything like my night was with my girls they were constantly putting on different dresses I can't imagine if someone had a baby with them.

You're definitely not being a bridezilla. When my sister in law went looking for her wedding dress she left my then 1 year old niece with my then 83 year old grandmother because she knew she wouldn't be able to devote her attention to the dresses and her daughter. Explain to her that it's not the place to bring a child and just for that one day you need her undivided attention.

When we went BM dress shopping, my 18 month old niece came with us. I held her and played with her while my girls tried on dresses. She walked around and played by herself sometimes too. I kept an eye on her. It was fine. Actually she was really cute and the women in the place got a kick out of her so paid more attention to us. She has twins and would have brought the other one if she wasn't napping.

Is your mom going? Or FMIL? One of them can help keep an eye on him too.

I agree with you. Not a place for a child & honestly your friend should know that.

I agree. This is an experience for all of you and a baby doesn't belong. Could you explain that you do not want to hurt her feelings but its kind of a 'girls' event? Though, I would try to cut her some slack.. if her parents are too old to watch a baby and her husband does work a lot she may need to bring her son places. Can she easily afford a sitter? Although, lots of new moms wouldn't trust a sitter with their babies. You should still try to suggest the idea of finding a babysitter. I've heard of care.com being a reliable service .. better than someone off the street

I personally don't think its a big deal at all. But, I am a pretty easy going person and not much gets under my skin. Sometimes finding a sitter isn't always as easy as us non-baby people think. If she doesnt have family or an already established and reliable sitter she would basically have to leave her son with a stranger in order to go. If the kid is a pain it's her problem but I personally would not say something especially if she is someone you care about.

Agreed. All of my sisters have kids and we had 2 little girls at our appointment. It wasn't convenient but it wasn't a big deal...i just told them to behave when they were getting out of hand.

I can imagine that it would be slightly annoying for you especially if you're not around kids often but consider her situation and let it go. You gotta learn to not sweat the small stuff (more now than ever when you're wedding planning) or you'll go crazy.
