Need advice - moving to L.I.

Hi girls! I just got a job in Farmingdale, and my FH and I are going to move to Long Island next month. Yay! He works in Mineola, and we want to rent an apartment in an area that would be a convenient commute for the both of us.

We need help! (We currently live in Brooklyn and don't know all that much about L.I. neighborhoods). Have any of you used a RE agent to find an apartment in nassau/western suffolk? If so, can you post or FM me the info? Any suggestions about towns/neighborhoods? We're in a real time crunch and feeling a little lost... any help would be appreciated. TIA!

hi! congrats on moving to LI. FH and i just got a gorgeous apartment in massapequa - FM me for info! (we didn't use an RE agent btw).

I live in mineola, you should move here it's great. right by roosevelt field, all that. one of my bridesmaids used to work in farmingdale and lives in mineola. it was a pretty easy commute.

Farmingdale is a cute area. There are a lot of good neighborhoods b/w Farmingdale and Mineola. Some areas I like are Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa, and Garden City.

I live in garden city... It is soooo nice and not to far from the highways or the mall

Not sure what your price range is, but Jericho/HIcksville is probably half way between Mineola and Farmingdale! Hicksville would be more affordable than Jericho.

I second Hicksville as a mid point. Farmingdale is a nice area and not too far to Mineola. I would suggest checking craigslist and Newsday for other aparments. You don't need to use a realtor for that far west Nassau or east Suffolk.
