Need advice NOW!

Humidifier, can you suction his nose? can he sleep sitting up in a bouncy seat or car seat??

How old is he??

6 months... size of a 1 year old... wont sleep in bouncy chair

have you suctioned his nose? Little noses makes something for congestion. Its a nose drop that drys out the mucus. I know that doesnt help now being 12:45AM... Can you prop the legs of his crib up? Have you given him any Tylenol? If you dont have a humidifier turn the shower on and let it steam. THen bring him in there.

Tried suctioning, he throws his head back and cant stand it... I just ran to CVS and bought him that decongestant and drops.. Vicks vapo rub (for me) and More sticky thermometers...

Go back to CVS and buy the Saline Nose Drops - squirt some of that into each nostril and THEN suction his nose. The moisture helps to relieve the congestion, and helps to remove some of the mucus that might be clogged, since babies cannot blow their noses.

Make him drink LOTS of fluids - increase his water intake, which will help keep his mucus clear and prevent it from settling in his chest.

Try a humidifier in his room, and put some wood blocks under the legs on one side of the crib to elevate his head while he's sleeping. (You could also use some towels under the mattress to tilt him up a little more.)

I wouldn't give him any medicines unless advised to do so by your doctor. If it's just a common cold, most medicines won't help anyway - it needs to run it's course - and over-medicating a small child in not good.

Don't worry, Mommy! This too shall pass! I think the 'firsts' are the worst b/c we don't know yet how to make our little ones comfortable. Hang in there!

I know Saline Nasal Drops are great. I have used them since I got pregnant and my sinus problem is a ton better. Little Noses makes one too.

Does he have a fever? If not, then the meds might not help much. But if it doesn't go away in a day or two call the doctor. And FLUIDS are super duper important.
