I don't post on here much but I am in need of some advice. We are having our reception out in Girogios. Originally I was going to get married at a church near our home here in Sayville at the church we attend but my wedding is in January and everyone was so worried about bad weather so I I wanted to try to find a church near the reception site. Now I am finding it very hard to find a church that preforms wedding ceremonies for non members. We are not catholic, so we cannot get married in a catholic church, we are looking for a protestant or non denominational church. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas? Or knows of a church or a place we could hold a ceremony and bring in an officiant of our home in eastern Suffolk . Any advice would be great.

Re: Need advice on Cermony
I googled Baiting Hollow NY churches and came up with this church link
I think you'll have to call one by one and explain your situation. I'm getting married in a catholic church and I'm not catholic -- FH is though. If it hadn't worked out I would have went with a presbytarian church. I was a little frazzled that we couldn't marry in my home church and it was a little wierd meeting with officiants from another religion (I'm a christian but it's so different from the catholic church) but in the end we'll marry in a church and that's all I cared about.

Re: Need advice on Cermony
Is it possible for you to get married at the RH? Me and FH are Catholic but we don't practice. Instead of doing Pre Cana, we're just having an officiant come to the RH.

That is what we are doing too!

Re: Need advice on Cermony
Thanks for the link. I really want to get married in a church rather than at the rh but, if I can't find a church to get married in I guess that is what we will have to do. It is so upsetting because I am religious and the churches I called give you an automatic no. Thanks again...I'm not ready to give up yet, so I'll keep on calling.

Look for Unitarian Universalist Churches. There's one in Jamesport. It's not exactly next door, but it's closer than Sayville. Jamesport Fellowship
