Need advice on travel dilemma - long
Ok - I`ve been driving myself crazy with the logistics of this, and now I`m wondering if I should even bother! Please let me know what all of you think: My ceremony will be on a Sat afternoon in Manhasset (Western Nassau), and my reception will be in Setauket. Most of our families are either in Nassau or Western Suffolk, so they`ll have a longer drive either to the church, or to the reception. My fi and I, along with our bridal party, will spend the night in a hotel out East, since it will be such a long day. The problem is, hotels for guests: I was originally planning to block a bunch of rooms off near the reception, and hire a shuttle bus to drive the guests who want to stay over to the hall and back. There are a few issues though - first, we won`t know until very close to the wedding if anyone will even take advantage of this, and I`d really rather not spend the money on a bus if it`s not going to be used. Plus, I`m having a hard time finding a hotel nearby that isn`t too expensive. The less expensive ones are 15 mins away from the hall. Does that then defeat the purpose of staying in a hotel?? Since my guests will have about 1 hr drive at the most, is it even worth my sanity to try and coordinate all of this? I could also just block off rooms, and add the info in with the invitations. I could forget about the bus and if anyone wants to stay, they can. What does everyone think? If anyone else has circumstances like this, what are you planning? Thanks so much!

My advise
Don't worry about your guests. They will be fine driving to each of the places. You can send them the names/numbers of local hotels in case they want to stay overnight. Some people love to make a weekend out of a wedding. But don't worry about hiring a bus or drivers. You have enough on your mind.

My advise
I agree with michele, let them know about area hotels. If they are from Long Island, they will know the hotels will be a little expensive. If a lot of your guests decide to stay at a hotel, if you wanted you could probably for transportaion through the hotel's front desk or local car service. All of the have those vans for airport runs. They are not as nice as a bus, but much less expensive and they still won't have to worry about driving after the reception.

another agree
Theres enough to do and worry about, guests take care of themselves...think about all the weddings you have attended...didn't you figure something out? Its a nice thought, but I wouldn't bother.
