NEED ADVICE ..... re: OOT Bridesmaid & Transporting Dress!

Ok ladies, I need your help figuring this one out!

One of my BMs lives in California. The wedding is here in NY.

I shipped the dress to her so she could get it fitted, etc. out where she lives.

Now its time to get the dress here to NY, somehow, without it getting all ruined or wrinkled in their travels.

She gets into NY on the 5th, but will be staying in Manhattan for a few nights before the wedding.

What would YOU do?!!?!

Ship it to NY? Bring it on the plane as a carry-on?

Help!

Hmmm i think i would bring it as a carry on! You just don't want to deal with a lost FEDEX/UPS package or worse, lost luggage the week before your wedding!
If she 'rolls' the dress rather than folds it it will arrive in better shape, and I'd steam it once she gets here (if you have a steamer?? Or else your dry cleaner can do that for you!!)

i think i would have her bring it on the plane..... and yes carry on... unless she has a really big suit case =)...

put it in a garment bag and have her use it as her carry-on. The hotel or any dry cleaners can steam out any last minute wrinkles

i was a BM for a wedding in Australia a few years back...my dress traveled as carry on...(they were nice enough to put it in a closet)...and we had it steamed there at a dry cleaners a few days before. I didn't want to risk it getting lost by shipping or putting it with checked in luggage!

Definitely bring it on the plane as a carry-on, and maybe have it steamed when she gets here.

bring it on the plane as a carry on, and if worse comes to worse she should be able to get it steamed when she gets here...or after she gets here have her hang it in the bathroom while she showers and it should be fine

i agree on the plane as a carry on. My sils wedding was in montana and all the bridesmaids were from ny and they all brought them on the plane with them.

All my BM were from OOT. All the ones that flew checked their dresses in with their luggage and the only one who had a wrinkle problem was one of my girls who drove instead of flew. The night before the wedding we just got out the ironing board and threw a bath towel over it and ironed the dress through the towel. It came out as good as new.

I'd definitely do it as carry on and not ship it .. as they say things can happen and that's one thing that everyone would like to avoid is her losing her dress.
