need advice sorry so long

so i met with patken today... Here is a little background of scenerio.

Fh and i are getting married at the hall at 12 on a saturday afternoon. i have been dead set on not seeing him before the wedding. met with photographer and she says that i am limiting the amount of pictures i am going to get considering i am not getting married at the church and dont have the gap between. I want as many pictures as i possibly get considering its a once in a lifetime event. So i was thinking of doing a special romantic first time encounter at like a park or something? what is everyones thoughts on this... here are the thoughts in my head

1. The shots of him would be closer and more intamite rather than just the shot of me comming down the aisle
2. we can get so many more pictures
3. We can pick a different place other than the hall so we will have differnt scenery.

Well i am torn.. my mom isnt too keen i think on the idea her response was it is what i want and her job is to make sure i get it. not sure how to take that either. Sorry so long.

We tto are getting married at thr RH and we are meeting B4 the ceremony! They have it set up so that they capture that special moment and we will be able to enjoy our entire wedding including the cocktail hour. I know that we will be together for the rest of our lives so seeing each other two hours before the ceremony is fine with me. We are paying alot for our pics and want as many as possible. My siggestion would be go for it! You'll get what you want and your mom will get over it. JMHO HTH

All my life I dreamed of that moment of the first glance down the aisle...well practicality set in and that went out the window! haha...we are doing pics before hand...as well as greeting all our guests together before the ceremony...this way we can get all the pics & schmoozing done and over with and enjoy our wedding together.

We will be seeing each other for the first time that morning at the beach where we plan on taking our pics...it depends what you are willing to trade off...it doesn't bother me any longer that i won't have that 'moment'...and i look forward to getting some great pics...i also think it'll be good to calm my nerves being with FH before everything...good luck in whatever you decide!

i'm dead set on not seeing my fh before the wedding too. But I'm not going to change that just to get more pictures in. i think if the photographer is talented enough, they can easily catch really nice shots of the couple despite lacking a perfect background.

we are getting married at Villa's so we don't have the time in between either. i was soo against seeing him before the ceremony.. but my photographer talked me into it to. They can set it up nice for the first time seeing each other! I say do it!!

We are getting married at the hall too .... at 8:00 p.m. in November, well after sunset.

So we are taking pics at OWG before the ceremony ... and we will have that romantic first time seeing eachother moment that you described.

I'm actually looking forward to it, and I think we will both be less nervous during the ceremony because of it.

I think its a personal thing, if you want more pictures then why not have that first time romantic encounter.
We have a gap between adn are dead set on not seeing e/o too but if we were in your position we would do the same thing

We are getting married at our hall at 5:30pm in November so we would miss out on outdoor pictures and our cocktail hour if we waited to see each other until the ceremony. Although in the past I had always envisioned seeing each other for the first time when I came down the aisle, now I can't wait for the private first meeting that we will have. I am also looking forward to a more relaxed day rather than having to rush to get pictures done.

I know this has been said - but it bears repeating... it is your decision - and regardless of what you choose to do - that moment WILL be special. And even if you take 5000 pics before the ceremony, that moment when you start down the aisle will STILL be special because you are walking toward the man you will marry and it is your LAST walk as a single woman.

That said... I am not taking pics before hand. I want him to be shocked. But pics of the moment are not really that important to me.

OK what about this....Would you consider getting married somewhere else? I REALLY wanted to have my ceremony at the Old Westbury Gardens BUT they only do ceremonies AFTER May I was told....(I was soooo crushed) That way you don't have to see him before and you'll get AMAZING pictures there!!!!! If I were you that's what I would do. I hope this helps....

This is exactly how I feel!! I won't be taking pics before either, but whenever the moment you guys see eachother for the first time takes place...it's going to be a beautiful, special moment..
Take some time to figure out what's best for you guys, and it will all work out!

im into pics too, though not in the same boat since we're getting married in a church..

take some time to think about what you REALLY want to do, not what anyone else wants you to do. Then follow your feeling or you'll regret it in the end. :) hth

Re: need advice sorry so long

My FBIL and FSIL had their ceremony and reception at the Carlyle and they took pics beforehand. To capture the moment the photographer had FBIL turn his back. She came out and then he turned and they both saw one another for the first time. The photographers have pics of each one's expression at that moment and it is beautiful.
I was thinking about doing the same thing for my wedding, and I asked her if she regretted it, and she said 100% NO way!! They have tons of great pics and they were really happy with their decision.

HTH!!
