Need Advice - Teachers Please Read

I posted this on the Brides board already but was hoping to get even more advice over here:

I am considering getting my Master's in Elementary Education (hopefully with a bilingual extension -spanish) to become an ESL teacher on LI. Can anyone offer any advice, schools to look at, share their experiences, offer any words of wisdom and dos and don'ts? I know a little about the way schools work on LI - FSIL works in the Patchogue-Medford District - but any help would be appreciated.
