Need advice..having second thoughts about BM Dresses

Okay here is my dilema..went yesterday with my 2 MOH which are my sisters. we looked at the dresses that I picked out. there a 4 different ones that I'm going to let them choose from. They both get measured & put down the deposit which was half the dress. All 4 dresses are Jim Hjlem & are rather expensive. How much is to much? With alterations the dresses (depending on which one the choose) are going to be around 300. So, last night I was up all night worried that they are to expensive. They are going to spend all this $$ on a dress they are never going to wear again. Now I'm thinking I should have just let them wear black & pick there own. I dont think my sisters can get back the deposit though. What do I do? Need advice!

I would ask your bms if they think its too expensive. I told my bm's about the cost of the dress I like and they had no problem with it, so I'm not worried. As long as they're willing to spend the $$ go for it!

If your BMs are fine with your choice then go for it. Your sisters already put down, so they don't seem to have a problem, check w/the other 2 and see what they say.

Since they left the deposit last night I am pretty sure the dresses have not been ordered from the designer. You could call the salon and ask them to hold the order and go look for other dresses that are less expensive.

that's what I mean...i know they are going to tell me what I want to hear. I don't think I can get their refund back. I know the dresses weren't ordered yet...they told me they won't order them until everyone has put a deposit. What should I say when I call? I'm having second thoughts? I think it might be better to let them all pick out a nice black dress that maybe they will wear again.

They will probably say no, but it won't hurt to ask since you were there last night. And if the salon won't give the money back, do they have other dresses that are less expensive or a formal gown section they can choose from?

not really. that's the problem..i didn't like the other dresses. I just spoke to my sister & she said that it's up to me but honestly it doens't matter to her. i'm more worried about my best friend because she is having a baby in June & I know they are tight on $$.

I am going through the exact same thing. All together (alterations, taxes etc) each bridesmaids dress would come out to be about $300. 2 girls put there deposit of half down and then I contacted netbride and they told me they have the dress for $119. I decided on black so that the girls can wear there own shoes and since it is a dress they all think they can wear it again. What I decided to do since the 2 girls can’t get their deposit back is have them continue with their order, order the other 5 from netbride (since they are black I am not to concerned with them coming from the same roll of fabric) and charge the netbride girls about $20 extra and use that to try and offset the cost to the other 2 girls who already put down the deposit. I get the dress I want without the guilt of $300.

What about subsidizing the cost?

Fletch sounds like she's got a great idea!
I'm ordering my dresses from netbride for $105!!!! I got quoted $250 from stores though. I felt so bad, since all of my BP has to travel to come here. Every dress I liked, netbride did have the lowest price.. even lower than RK Bridal.
Does that sound like something that will work for you?

I just emailed Netbride to find out if they have the dresses. Is it better to call or it's the email quote effective as well?

The e-mail quote is pretty fast and it is better to have the quote in writing.

Where did you order the dress? You should shop around for the best price - bridal reflections was too expensive for me (if that is where you ordered them).
