Need Advice...Your help would be greatly appreciated!
My FH and I wanted to go on a 9 day Royal Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. They finally posted their cruises for Oct ’09, the only problem is my job. I don’t even know if I will definitely be working here still, but if I plan anything now I am going to assume I will be. At my job we plan about 4 big events a year and in Nov we have our biggest event. The cruise I want to go on isn’t until Oct. 29th, which means I won’t get back until Nov 7th! The event is usually the second week in Nov, but there is so much preparation for it before hand. I know my boss will frown upon this and I do understand why. However, the date isn’t booked yet for the Nov ’09 event and I was hoping if I gave her notice soon, that perhaps we can somehow schedule it so that it won’t be a conflict. I can line up volunteers ahead of time and assign them each jobs to prepare for the event while I am gone. Is this something I should propose to my boss? I want to do what’s right by my job, but it’s also my only honeymoon. I can’t even do it the following months, because my job is just going to get even busier towards the holidays. I am really upset about this. I couldn’t wait to book it and now I am panicking. I was so excited for this. In your opinion, what do you think is the right thing to do? Book your cruise!!! It is your honeymoon. I am sure if you prepare really well ahead of time, they will be fine without you. If your boss frowns upon it, then ask him/her when they think would be best for you to go on your honeymoon? You deserve a honeymoon. DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

maybe try to take a personal leave for the month to take care of last min wedding stuff, your wedding, and your HM
that is if that works money wise too

I would book the cruise, your job will have plenty of notice and will be able to work things out somehow

It's your honeymoon! It's not just a regular vacation. Your boss should understand and will have plenty of notice.

I will let you know how it goes. I am very sensitive, so I hope she doesn’t give me a hard time. I know I will just get so upset and won’t know what to say. I am hoping it goes smoothly though. Thanks again!

book the cruise and approach your boss with all the options- he will appreciate its your HM but also the fact you are concerned about work

If the event at your job doesn't have a date yet. I would book my honeymoon. I will tell them asap so this way you are already ahead of the game.

ABSOLUTELY BOOK IT! I am sure your boss will understand. You sound like a very professional and responsible person. Just explain that the November '09 event was not planned yet and you needed to book the cruise way in advance. I am sure she will understand! IT'S YOUR HONEYMOON FOR GOODNESS SAKES!!
