Hi ladies - I bought my dress at Davids Bridal and currently it is at FMIL's house in East Islip. I don't want to have my fitting done at David's beacause of horror stories and also I thought their alterations were a little expensive ( my alterations would pretty much cost more than my dress itself!!) -
Does anyone have a tailor on long island that is reasonable and does alot of work on wedding dresses? FMIL wants me to take it to her local cleaner/tailor but I would rather someone who is more skilled at working on wedding gowns.. my gown is simple (no beading, no lace) and my alterations would probably include, taking top bust area in, hem and bustle....
I would appreciate any info you ladies could give me!!!
TIA!!!

Tanya's in Sayville is amazing!
Its on Main St. and I think the official name is Tanya's European Tailoring....
I've had her completely remake dresses for me and her work is flawless!

I used someone in Wantagh .. is that too far for you? I didn't need a lot of work, but with the steaming and what was done (took in the sides, added to the bust, also she sold me a bra she had ...) it was $275 I think? Not bad. She also did a few other 08 brides' dresses and my mom's and sister's, and everyone was perfectly happy.

I would need sides taken in...hem & bustle.. shouldn't be too bad.. plus the dress is simple

Filomena's in Coram. IDK if you're familiar with the area at all. It's on Route 112 directly across the street from Friendly's. I didn't get my dress altered there, but, I've heard MANY rave reviews about them. The # is 631-732-7880

I think Angel's Bridal is east islip will do alterations, even if you didn't buy the dress from them... I haven't had any work done by them, but I've seen save reviews and they were voted a 'best of 2008' top pick by the knot... I went dress shopping there and the owner Vicki is so sweet! Would have bought my dress there if I had found it there. HTH!!
