Need Anniversary Help

As I mentioned the other day, This weekend is my anniversary. It will be 1 year that my fiancee and I have been together. I was planning on taking her out to a really nice italian restaurant thats near my house, but I was also thinking of having a nice romantic dinner for her and I at my house. I'll get some candles, and flowers and make her favorite dinner....and for dessert I will pick up a cheesecake from this incredible bakery near my house. She loves Cheesecake.

What do you think is a better idea? She loves eggplant parm...So I was going to make that.

Also if I do make dinner at home, what wine would compliment that dinner? I figure red wine, right? but I dont know of any good brands.
Thanks
Scott

OOh I love wine!

For italian food, go with a pinor noir. Try one by Beringer, Carneros Creek, Chateau St. Jean, Sebastini, or Acacia. If you feel like splurging, you could also try my very favorite bottle of merlot (and I'm NOT a merlot drinker usually, but this stuff is awesome) by Frog's Leap. It's about $40 a bottle but it's really the best merlot I've ever tasted.

Maybe to accompany dessert you could try a dessert wine? If so, definitely get Kendall Jackson's 1997 Late Harvest Chardonnay (if you can find it). it's really sweet and delicious!! Serve it really cold, I can imagine it going great with cheesecake. It's got a sweet apricot flavor. The best!

Good luck wine shopping! A general rule is to get any California red wine from 1997, it was their best rated year (although they say 2003 vintages should be up there! We'll see!)

ENJOY and happy 1-year together!!!

Awesome, Thanks for the wine recommendations....

I have a question, i have this really awesome pizza sauce recipe. Do you think it would be wierd if I made the eggplant parm with this sauce recipe? The sauce is amazing?

Anyone have any good EggPlant Parm Recipes?

Danielle really doesnt have the time to post on here....She is very busy and her job doesnt let her come on the internet, so I am the one that is usually on here.

Re: Need Anniversary Help

Um, I wouldn't recommend pizza sauce with eggplant parm. I don't think it would taste right... but then again, I've never tried it, so it could be great!

Have a nice time! Let me know what wine you decide on.

Re: Need Anniversary Help

I think pizza places use the same sauce for things like that so I think it would be fine!

Can you (or have you) post(ed) the sauce recipe in that forum yet? I am looking for a good one for this weekend

I think this sounds like a wonderful evening you have planned!! Danielle will love it!!

Re: Need Anniversary Help

04Bride we were together for 9 months. I had planned to do it at our year anniversary but I had bought the ring during the summer right after we came back from florida in July and I could not wait anymore...So I did it on our anniversary of 9 months.

Re: Need Anniversary Help

I say go for the quiet romantic italian restaurant
most places have red wine w/ italian dinners such as Ruffino Gold? I think it is, its expensive but a very good wine
have a great anniversary!

Re: Need Anniversary Help

Well I made dinner. I made Danielle's Favorite, Eggplant Parmigan...>With Home Made Sauce. It came out incredible. I put some pasta on the side, and some semolina bread. For dessert we had Chocolate chip cheesecake which was incredible. As for the wine I got a bottle of Pinard Red wine. I forgot which wine it was but it was a more sweet wine, and it complimented the eggplant very well.

Danielle Came over at 7:30, and I had told her that we had an 8pm reservation...I opened the door and I was a mess....lol. I told her I was going to take a shower now and that I moved up our reservation till 8:30....She walked in to find the table with a table cloth on it, 1 dozen red roses, candles, and wine.....

So things went well.
