Need asparagus recipe

I bought some today at the supermarket. DH and I love asparagus, but have no clue how to make it!! I got one of those asparagus steamer things for my shower but have no clue how to use it. DH likes it w/ garlic and butter, I think...I'm clueless. Please help!!!

i usually put it in the steamer basket of my pasta pot. add just a little water to the bottom and put on med-high. my pot has a glass lid, so i can tell when the asparagus is done - otherwise just pierce with a fork to test doneness. while this is cooking i usually melt a little butter and saute some minced garlic and pour it over asparagus when it's done.

If you have some oranges - you can melt some butter with some orange rind making an orange butter which you can drizzle on the cooked asparagus

Wow, i never thought about the oranges - sounds good!! THe steamer doesn't have a glass top, how do you know when it's done? About how long does it take??

I love mine grilled with a little olive oil, salt, and red pepper flakes! I also love them steamed with lemon! Yumm!

starhead - you can test them with a fork - they should be firm, but not too hard. FI likes them with a little crunch still left in them, where my mom used to steam the heck outta them! it's all personal preference!!
