I am setting up appointments with photographers but I only have one day in LI (not even a full day, really) so I don't want to waste my time going to studios that aren't well liked or that I can't afford.
Based on their websites (and recommendations from this fabulous site, of course!) I am most interested in: Mark Kaufman Imagine Perceptions Twelfth Night
Can you give me a general estimate of a basic package? Any pros and cons you can share? I would really like to narrow this list down to 2!

I think I am booking with Duet. They have a package for $1999 that includes two photographers for the day, wedding album, 2 parent albums and 75 thank-you cards. It would have been a few hundred less had I gone with just one photographer. Their pictures were beautiful.
I really can't afford to spend that much, so this wasn't a bad price. Some photographers can go up to 3 or 4,000, and that just seems ridiculous to me.

If you do a search you may find out more info too! I think Imagine is in the $6000 range but I am not sure what that includes.
ETA: the prices i have gotten from different places 2000, 3000, 3200, 4400. As you can see they range, i think the ones on your list are higher end!

I used Imagine and chose the middle package which was $3800 + tax. They also have a few cheaper and more expensive options. You can call them and ask for price a quote.

FM...and for your information our 'package' minimum with our photographer is $3500...$1500 for their services and $2000 to use in any way we see fit for our albums and reprints.

Be careful if you call for prices, we went to many photographers who's basic package was 3000-4000 and that was a basic package...one photographer, no photojournalism, a slip in album

I'm using DUET. The package I got is about $3K, for 2 photographers and 1 videographer plus pics/album/parents/video, its on the OFFICIAL DUET PHOTOGRAPHY THREAD (the link is below). I went to about 10 photographers before I decided. DUET was the cheapest for what we wanted. I've seen packages for over $8000 for photography alone. I would spend as much money as you can afford on the photography because its the only think you can take away from your wedding, besides a dress you will most likely never wear again. Pictures are very important to me and even though we got an inexpensive photographer, I don't feel like we will be sorry. Good luck- and do your homework on this one!!!

I loved my photographer, and found him very reasonable. He will customize his package to fit what you are looking for. Here's his website. You can click on wedding photos, then on M & P if you want to see just a handful of our proofs.
