Need donation favor help...

Ok i want to try to make a LONG story short so here's my best rty:

FH and i wante dto make a donation to teh University of PA Heart Failure and Organ Trasplant wing because it was special to us and our family members.....well ive been trying to contact them since July to ask some questions and so far the only question they answered was who to make the check out to and where to send it - which kind of upset me.

So basically its one month before the wedding and I need some suggestions on where to make the donation. I definietly want it to be something heart related (preferably heart failure/trasplant) and specific, like not just to the heart association. Any ideas or help would be GREATLY appreciated.

i was gonna say the same thing.. it sounds like they gave you all the info you needed, and the PA hospital must be an important place to you guys... i would still send them a check, and then just make up your own little scrolls for each place setting explaining the donation and maybe why you chose to do that. just print it on peices of nice paper, and roll it up and tie some pretty ribbon around it... done and done
BTW: for our favors, we donated to the lance armstrong cancer fund, and gave everyone a yello livestrong bracelet with a note explaining the donation... and we got so many compliments about what a nice thought it was and how much people liked it.

Don't know what happend.

We are doing a donation to brain aneurysm research and providing a burgandy ribbon on each donation card to show support.

What other info do you need from the University of PA hospital? If that is originally where you wanted to donate why are you changing? It had to be a special place to you? Is it because they weren't more helpful?

i felt like they totally disregarded any questions i had and were only concerned about the check. I wanted to know what specifically the money was used for (there was a specific program i was looking for and wanted to be sure that was it)
also i asked about wording and scrolls. I felt that if a big hospital cant keep track of their emails, then maybe the donation won't go for what i thought it would

I feel that a hospital should focus on patient care. Not that your donation isn't important, and every donation should be looked on as such, but unfortunately I don't think their main concern is your scroll....no offense of course. You have to do what you feel is right. If there is another charity that is just as important please donate to them.

I guess you are missing my point - i want to be absolutely sure that my doantion goes for what I am led to believe it is being used for because it is for something very important to patients and something that affected my family personally, so it hits close to home.

i dont think that you will ever get that answer. I doubt they will ever say thatits going exactly towards XYZ. They can not gaurentee that.

We are planning on doing make a wish fondation. Hopefully my donation will go to making someones dream come true.

I hadte donating to research because i feel themoney never gets there...

maybe i should have been more specific but i was trying to shorten the story.
basically, when my grandfather was sick in thsi hospital we found out about a program that caters to the families of heart patients. It pays for their visits, gas money, parking, food, etc. so they can be with their loved ones at a very difficult time.
I wanted to be sure that the donation was going to this specific organization within the hospital. Thankfully, we never needed these services but I would love to be able to help those in need of them.

I agree with you completely on the point about wanting your donation to go specifically to the program you choose. We are donating to Sloan-Kettering, directed to research a specific type of cancer, as well as to the hospice house where FH's mother lived her final days. We chose not to make a general donation to the cancer society because of the special significance of making the donation in memory of someone to whom those places were significant.

We ended up donating to St. Jude's Children Hospital, which i know isnt what you were planning for but they have ridiculous customer service.

Also you might want to look through this websitecharity navigator

They grade charities based on a number of factors and let you know which ones put the most of your donation towards good use. I found it very helpful when narrowing down our charities.
