Need Favors Help for E-Party

Its that time FINALLY!! Yipeeee I have been waiting to begin planning the e-party but my busy little bee of a mom, has no time for us not just yet. Our parents haven't met yet that is how busy my mom is. But she said to begin planning so here goes...

I have a couple of ideas that I want to mesh together and I need help figuring out how to finish it off. I was thinking of having a wine glass or champagne flute whichever, maybe a combo of both, with Hershey chocolates with the wrappers personalized inside. We would either get the ribbon that is personalized to place around the top of the stem or not have it at all. My question is how do I close the top so that the chocolates do not fall out? Or I was thinking of maybe placing the chocolates in a votive candle holder, placing tulle around it and tying it with the personalized ribbon. I want to do the chocolate thing definitely. Any other ideas on what to place them in? I was also thinking of engraving the glass of whatever we use to place the chocolates in. Would that just scream Carl and Wanda too much? Because I was thinking since they would eat the chocolate, the wrappers are gone, the ribbon is probably thrown out and all that would remain is the glass holder. Honest opinions please either positive or negative are welcome!! Thanks as always.

I think you are going a bit overboard for engagement party favors. I don't think you have to have the glasses engraved. They'll be plenty of more favors b/w shower and wedding to have something to last for guests. Most people don't keep that stuff anyway.

But how about personalized hershey bar wrappers. We did this at my shower and our wedding. My parents made them on the computer and it had our picture and wedding date, etc.

I like the votive container idea with the chocolate. you could make labels for the votive holder with your names and dates. That would be something people could very easily keep and use with a candle. Then like you said, wrap it in tulle. If you want to use the glass/flute idea I would wrap the chocolates in cellphane or tulle and place in the cup. this way the chocolate wont fall out.

I am thinking more of the candle idea. After much thought and FH telling me it will be too much work & $$, Steph-you are right on the engraving glass is too much.

Would you mind, if you have a picture of it, posting what you had for your shower? How did your parents do the labels on a PC? I was thinking of doing the same thing. I just don't know what paper I could use to do it.
As far as the labels for the votive holder: won't the label peel off with time due to the heat of the candle? Or should I have a sticker or will I have the same problem?
Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Need Favors Help for E-Party

Let me ask my parents again how they did it. I do have a cover at my house and I can try and scan it and post it as soon as possible. Possibly tonight. Also I think the sticker would probably stay on for awhile on the votive holder. Some sites have address type labels or gift labels and they are really cute -- or you could just make one up on your own computer with pre-cut labels. Let me see what I can find that i've seen before for votive holders and I'll post it.

Here's one label on found on www.artisticlabels.com

$6.95 for 144 labels

They also had smaller address size labels with a few of those kids images.

For our EP my grandmother found these awesome candles. They were about 2x2 assorted colors wrapped in celephane and had a a nice ribbon attached. The best part was that they were only $0.99. They looked like they costed at least $5 each. And they were a big hit!

MY F MOTHER AND HER FRIEND MADE LARGE HEART SUGAR COOKIES AND DECORATED THEM VICTORIAN STYLE. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, AND WERE NOT THAT HARD TO DO..

Re: Need Favors Help for E-Party

I think I am sticking to the candle idea. We can't decide whether to just have the candle holder with the chocolates inside or just a candle with a tag saying thank you... Of course either choice would be covered with tulle or organza, followed by the tag on the outside. I still would like to add a label on the holder something with our names and the date of the eparty. These little things I have to think about!

My next question is, should we hand out one candle per couple or two per couple? Or one per person, in essence two per couple.

I would say one per couple. Most guys don't care about the favor stuff.

Re: Need Favors Help for E-Party

I actually e-mailed Stacey instead. She gave me similar ideas to what I had in mind but with something different. FH's purchasing department is looking into this for me as well. The vendor would give us a break if we order from his company rather than as an individual.

My other alternative is to do them ourselves. But I have to see what is more cost effective for us.
Thanks everyone for the help.

I didn't get a chance to scan that cover of the chocolate bars for you yet, sorry. I will try tonight again.
