need fmil advice...UNBELIEVEABLE UPDATE

im really going to try to keep this short...
FMIL gave us an amount of $ she will give towards the wedding. She also said she wanted to include 15 people on the morning after brunch. So we signed contracts and thought we were all set. Well the last payment she owes us is due to us this weekend. She told FH she can not give us the $ for 15 people at the brunch...only 7. Now the prob is we guaranteed 40 people so even if she doesnt pay for the 8 we need to pay for them. FH wants to pay for her extra 8 and invite the people his mom wants to invite. I want to pay for the extra 8 and invite the people I want to invite! what do we do??? I told FH to tell his mom if she wants certain people there she needs to pay for them. FH says i need to be sympathetic and just let her have who she wants there bc she is going through a tough time (he friends husband died last week)...i told FH everyone has problems and if she would like to call the venue to say i cant make the guarantee and cry her way out of it thats fine by me....but realistically she is taking advantage of us bc her name is not on the contract so she is not forced to pay anything!

According to facebook his mom just purchased a new iphone!!!
Are you kidding me lady?!?! you say you cant give us money for the brunch but you can get an iphone!!!
so frustrated right now
thankfully FH now realizes his moms true colors and agrees that we are not paying for her guests!

I remember the thread about her friends husband passing away - its not her husband, why is she having such a hard time? Oh yea, and what happened, did you get stuck going to that wedding by yourself?

i wousit down with FH and decide who you both want to invite sinc eyo now have 8 peopel to pay for. if, someof those 8 peole happen to besome of the same people that FMIL wanted to invite, then good for her.
Her friends husband's dying has nothing to do with her. The widow mightbe having a hard time, but i shouldn't affect your FMIL's ability o cough up the extra cash

I would def NOT let her invite the extra people and not pay. Why does she need so many of HER Friends there when its your wedding?

And then buying an iphone...just crazy!!
