Ok - is inviting & guest a universal thing -- if you do it for one - do it for all
I have two co-workers (mother & son) and both are single and not involved (but the son dates and the mother doesnt). I feel like i should invite the son & guest but just the mother b/c shes older.
Does that make sense or am i discrimenating against age?
I have aunts & uncles that are either widowed or divorced and dont date and im not inviting guests for them - they would thinks its weird if i did. Like FH grandma & guest -- that would be weird.

Re: Need guest list help ...
We invited everyone age 21 and up with a guest. We went back and forth with this one bc we have some family that doesnt have significant others or are even really dating but we didn't want to make those people feel weird about not being invited with a guest. So we went by the age 21 and over rule. If this woman isn't really dating anyone, she most likely won't bring anyone but it might be nice to give her that option. HTH's.. .

Oh and I think grandma's are a different category. I didn't invite my widowed grandmother with a guest but we did invite FH's grandfather bc he has a girlfriend now (if you call it that :) )

ok, so here is what we're doing. and i know people on here hate it and get angry with me, but it's my wedding so i don't care. lol
if you are family, and not in a 'significant' relationship, either married, long term, living with, or engaged, you are not invited with a guest. i don't care how old you are.
if you are a friend (we're literally inviting like 1 or 2 tables of friends total so it's not a lot of people at all) and will not know anyone at the wedding besides myself or FH, you get a date.
there are also a few people we know, who will either be engaged or married, at that point, however, we've never met their SO. If we have room in the budget/guest list they will be invited with their SO. If not, i may invite them solo. They will know other people there so hopefully it won't be too offensive. We've made a lot of new friends during the wedding planning process who we'd like to invite but didn't budget for when we booked our hall.

My cousins weddings, because they knew my sister and I were single at the time invited only indivudually. For our wedding...if the person is not in a serious relationship or been with someone for awhile, I am not including and guest on the invite.

I happen to agree. We just sent our invites and I only invited people that are in a relationship with a guest. I had to cut somewhere and cutting the and guests helped out alot especially when I have 262 invites
