Need guidance (when to pick out cake)

I am getting married at The Chateau/Chateu Briand...My question is...

Do I contact the bakery to do a tasting and pick out my cake (design)? Or do they contact me?

When I went for my final tasting at my hall, that was when I picked out the design and such.. I would contact your BM

I called my RH about this the other day. I guess every place is different but they said they have a book that I can pick from. But, since I have to be difficult, I want an upgraded cake and will go to the bakery and pay the difference directly to them

Unless you are getting the cake directly through your RH, then you have to contact the bakery they use to set up an appt to pick out the design and flavors.

We are going to be calling our bakery sometime this week to set up a tasting and pick out our cake.

I'm also getting married at CB and my coordinator told me that 2 months before the wedding you will meet with your DOC to go through the menu, tables, and will pick you cake and design. I have emailed my DOC about the tasting to see if that is included when I pick the design etc

Yes, the bakery will do a tasting - you can go there prior to your meeting with CB, so when you do meet with CB, you'll have all of your cake stuff in order. The owner had us write down exactly what to tell the hall so they submit the info correctly to him for our cake.

We had our tasting a month or so ago ... and ordered ours just yesterday. But ours is different as the cake is not in the venues pricing. We have to get an outside baker!
