Need hair/makeup recommendations for Long Beach

Hi girls-
Can anyone recommend a good salon for wedding hair and makeup in the Long Beach area?

My sister gets a gift certficate for a day of beauty at Joseph Christopher Salon from her in-laws every year for Christmas. She doesn't know the names of the people that she deals with there, but she said that the place itself is fabulous!

I live in Long Beach and go to Hair Machine in Rockville Centre for Hair...Dawn there does incredible styles and updo's, and my regular hairdresser there, phill, says the new makeup girl is great. I'm new to Long Beach and havent found anyone there yet.

I always get my hair done at Salon Osio and Spa in Oceanside.
Edith is a doll and does the best up-do.

I used Denise Venti in Baldwin (City Slickers). She comes to your house and does your hair. She also can bring a girl to do makeup. I had already booked my makeup woman at the time I booked Denise. I booked Paula Young (Oceanside) who also comes to your house the day of. Both did terrific jobs... and everyone (mself incl.) raves about Denise!

I live in LB and hae used Joseph Christopher - this is just my opinion, but I would never go back.
Here are my reasons
1. they always leave you waiting. no matter what time my appointiment was, I was perpetually left waiting 10 or minutes
2. I find the staff sooo snooty, though I have no idea why they think they are better than anyone else
3. everyone comes out looking the same

I would use Aqua in Hewlett (20 minute drive) or maximus in Merrick (also 20 minute drive)

For the girls who use local LB salons - any recommendations for a good cut - I need a new style?
