Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
I have had several friends between FI and I who used them and I have heard mixed reviews on Hank Lane....Better things about Steven Scotts bands. We almost went with SS.... Hank Lane called me so many times b/c they wanted to book, it was crazy.... One of my friends who use them said they were rude, arrogant, didn't play songs she specifcilly requested. Another friend loved them and thought that they rocked the house. The bands were the Jeff Allen band and Kevin Richards. On SS, heard gr8 things about Central Park and Manhattan... Do a search on these bands- esp HL, and you will see what I mean.

We used Jeff Lubin and loved them! People still tell me how great they were. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks for all your advice! Did any of you get to see your band live before booking them?

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
Nope. Hank Lane and Steven Scott don't showcase. You only get to hear their CDs.

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
Hank Lane called me so many times that the man who kept calling knew my roommates voice! They actually left me a message once asking me to call them to tell them if I WAS NOT interested. Like I am about to call every vendor on LI to tell them that I AM NOT going to book them. Their music may be great (I have no idea since I never saw them or contacted them at all) but their sales tatics are horrible.

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
100% agree with Becky on that one!!!!!! To this day I get at LEAST one message a week from Hank Lane. It's horrible!!!!!!!!!!! I honestly thought they did showcases. I think that's what's always on the messages - when their next showcases are.

So funny! Same thing happened to me! It made them look so cheap! I thought that they were so classy before that!!!

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
Let me recommend Ken James Orchestras and also Renegade. KJ is a little more expensive than SS and Hank Lane, but the 10 piece band IMO is totally worth it!!!!

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
Exactly, sept20yay! Even if I needed a band, I wouldn't have gone with them - their sales tactics just turned me off!!!!

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
Nothing personal against any of these companies but in my opinion, hiring a band you have never heard perform live is just asking for trouble. There are too many other alternatives to use these agents.

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
Hank Lane also continued to harass us, even after we told them we booked someone else. We went with Steven Scott, and although we did not get to hear them live, they were phenomenal! We used the Anthony Mills Band. Some bands do not need to showcase because they are booked entirely on word of mouth, so don't necessarily go on that.

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
I was in a bridal party Hank Lane played (Don't know which band) but the bride was upset they played songs she specifically asked not to have played and played the wrong song for the groom and his mother. I thought the band was pretty good however but not my style of music. I also remember them not taking alot of breaks, which was refreshing.

Re: Need Hank Lane advice (band)
Many of Steven Scott's bands have left. There must be a good reason for that!! The latest one is 747 ORCHESTRA. He was a senior partner for 10 years ,I think, and their busiest band and he is now out of their and booking his band on his own. That in itself should raise a flag. If you want to use a 'company' instead of an independent band, Hank Lane is the better choice today. We chose an independent band because we felt more comfortable working with the band directly.Welcome New Vendors
