Need Hawaii Opinions!!

Need Hawaii Opinions!!

Ok, ladies, I thought that I made up my agenda, now I'm second guessing myself. Ok, the travel agent suggested 5 nights in Oahu at the Halekulani in Waikiki. It's five-star, I've read great reviews. The agent said that Oahu is the most fun of the islands because it is a city. Then, we booked Maui for four nights at the Hyatt Regency. A different agent said to go to Kauai instead of Oahu and stay at the Hyatt because it is gorgeous. This one said Kauai is boring and if you want to do something at night, go to Oahu. Now, I'm confused.. Also, the Oahu and Maui trip was quoted at 6400, which I thought wasn't bad.

I guess it would depend on what you are looking for. Would you rather have beautiful scenary or exciting activities? I have never been to Hawaii, but it was always my impression that no matter where you go, it's just beautiful. I personally would choose Oahu.

Good luck in deciding.

my fi has been to all.. and he said that kauai and maui are the nicest... if you want to relax a lot on a beach or resort.. I 'd say go that way.... if you want to site see.. go to Oahu... go online and check them all out.. see what there is to do...

we are going to kauai and maui.... and staying at the Hyatt...

HTH....

Originally we were going to go to maui for a week, then kauai for the second week. We decided to do Maui first (Kaanapali Beach Hotel) , then Oahu (outrigger) over the weekend figuring there would be a lot to do at night. Then we are doing Kauai (Hyatt) for a week. So our trip is an extra 2 days because of Oahu.

Halekulani is suppose to be a great hotel!!

I have been to Oahu and Maui before. We are going to Hawaii on are HM, we are staying in Oahu for a night, Kaui and Maui for the rest of the trip. Oahu has beautiful beaches, but is more of a city. There is a lot of site seeing to do. Lots of bars, restaurants, shopping. You will not get the total Hawaii feel at this island, but there is a ton to do and the hotel you are staying at is voted one of the best.

Maui is way more layed back, but still has a lot to do. Plenty of site seeing, beautiful beaches, tons of restaurants. Though you will not get that city feel here. It is very green and not so developed as Oahu.

I have never been to Kaui, but I heard it is beautiful. There is not so much night life here, but more of a relaxing place. We plan to take long drives, go to the spa, and go to a Luau on this island. If you guys are big in to partying, then you might not like this island.

I have only ever been to Oahu, but have booked my HM at Maui and Kauai. Wikkiki is a city on the beach. It has stuff to do, but as far as scenery it is like a midwest shopping mall on the water. It is nice but not as exotic. We had a fantastic time there - but our best memories were when we actually left Wikkiki and spent a few nights at a bungelow on the northshore or went hiking or snorkling at an abandoned cove. I think we are nightlife people but compared to NYC Wikikki nightlife is not really hopping. That is why we would rather do an exotic island rather than go where the 'action' is. These are just my 2 cents and I am sure other girls have had different experiences there than me - I guess it all depends on what you want in your HM. In all honesty I don't think you could make a wrong decision because it is hawaii which is beautiful and romantic no matter where you are.

Re: Need Hawaii Opinions!!

Actually, you know what ladies, I just talked to my mom and she said to stay at Kauai and Maui. She said that Oahu is very similar to Maui, so for a honeymoon it was bad advice from my travel agent to stay in Oahu for so long. It's no problem, though, for me to change my itinerary. The only thing is I hope it doesn't become more expensive.

How much are you ladies paying, if you do not mind me asking?

We're doing 3 nights Oahu (Halekulani as well) Kauai for 4 nights and 6 nights Maui (both at the Hyatt) We were so confused initially everyone kept telling us something different. Some people said Don't bother going to Oahu while other's said don't miss it. So the way we broke it up is a couple days in Oahu for sight seeing (we want to see Pearl Harbor) and shopping...then Kauai to relax and for activities and Maui because everyone keeps telling us it's probably the best island. (enough relaxation and night life together). HTH

I've been to Oahu and the resort area is beautiful..once you leave there [even the drive from the airport to the hotel] is kinda yucky IMO. There's more traffic there than in nyc..I swear.
It's a fun island though and FH and I had a great time but we fell in love with Kauai. It was absolutely beautiful no matter which part you were at.

It is all personal preference. We are hitting four islands and decided to stay the least amount of time in Oahu because it is a city and we were looking more for relaxation and we aren't big city people. It's all what you like. HTH Good Luck!
