I need help trying to motivate my fh to lose some weight. I love him to pieces. He has gained like 50+ lbs in the past I guess 3 years and he needs to lose it. For health reasons mostly he has had a heart problem from when he was little. Now he only gains the weight in his torso. And he teases me about how he is going to die young. Okay so now I am freaking out and I need to get him motivated to lose weight.... If anyone has any advise I would appreciate it.
I have tried motivating him to go to the gym. We joined together, I have been cooking very healthy for him. He use to be very active but now he is not. He does play golf now but nothing else. And it doesn't help that everyone at his job is the same way. They eat tons of unhealthy food. And when I send him with food I don't think he eats it. Ugh I am about to give up!!

Re: Need help!
I think the best motivator sometimes is take the focus off of losing the weight. When someone has gotten used to eating whatever they want, whenever they want, it's tough to change that all at once and right away.
Probably what would be most helpful and motivating is for him to have weekly goals that he has control over. Like 'I'll work out 3 times this week' or 'I'll eat what I want at other meals, but in addition to the 3 workouts this week, breakfast (or lunch or dinner) will be healthy and portion controlled.' These 2 small changes will make a difference on the scale and in how his clothes fit over a period of like 4 to 6 weeks. Seeing the results will motivate him to keep going, and possibly work out (and cut back) even more.
Hope that helps.

i agree with Katherine. Also have you talked to him about your feelings? Let him know that it upsets and scares you that he is so cavalier about his health. Hopefully he will realize it and change. Most importantly, he has to want to change otherwise nothing will work.
