Need Help

Since we are getting married at the reception hall I have to get a clergy or priest. We're meeting with a priest tomorrow and I have know idea what to ask.

Anyone have any suggestions. I tried doing a search but didn't find any thing helpful.

I have no idea!

I guess you should ask what kind of ceremony he/she would perform, what the format would be like, any pre-requisites they have, and fees they charge. Plus, I'd make sure that you and FH click with him/her- you want to make sure you like the person marrying you. A friend hired a rabbi (they had an interfaith ceremony) and he turned out to be a real jerk at the wedding- he made her cry at their rehearsal! So make sure you spend time getting to know him/her. Hope this helps!

Re: Need Help

Are you really getting a priest, because it's under Catholic law that they can't marry you out of the church. I tried to get a priest, actually he's been a family friend for years, and he couldn't even do it because i'm getting married outside at the reception hall.
But maybe the one you found doesn't care about that.
Anyway to answer your question I would have him walk you through the entire ceremony, just to get an idea of what it will be like.

Re: Need Help

Most Priests won't preform weddings outside the church, but ask him if he could recommend someone from the church that might be able/willing to.

1. Type of ceremony/ what's included?
2. Donation/amount to church?
3. Length of ceremony?

Thanks for your help. I think he still considers himself a priest but may have separated from the church. In addition to what you ladies have suggested. I'm also going to ask for his credentials.
