I'm very overwhelmed by this whole process. I know many of you ladies have been doing a great job doing this on your own. I believe I could do it but I don't know where to start and how to budget well. I appreciate all the help I could get. First, I need help decided on a venue. I absolutely love the Carltun but it may be over our budget. Can people give me their opinons on these venues, Carltun (Eisenhower Park), Carlyle on the Green (Bethpage), Gurney's Inn (Montauk), and Terrace on the Park (Flushing)? These options are just based on websites. Besides the Carltun, I haven't been to any other venues. Food is big with my family and my fiancee's, so if people could comment on food, that would be a big help. thanks. leah

Re: need help!!!!
I haven't been to some of those places but I did check out 2 of them. My Aunt had her wedding a few years ago at the Carltun and it was absolutely amazing. I know it was really expensive though! I also checked out Gurneys Inn, I have been going there with my family since I was little and thought I wanted to have my wedding there. When I looked however I kind of felt like the place was geared more towards smaller weddings and our 150 would be a tight squeeze in the cocktail area. I also felt like the food options were not as great as some other places.

try looking at Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park. their prices are reasonable (IMO) and i have heard rave reviews about the food and service there.

Re: need help!!!!
Wow, from one end of the island to the other.
How big is your wedding ? Have you set a budget yet ? Do you want your wedding to be the only event at the RH ?
There is a magazine called Locations. It does not have every venue listed, but a fairly decent number of them. Lists the min guest number, approximate pp cost.
I've been to a lot of places over the years, every one is different. I have my favorites, and I have my dislikes.
My venue has amazing food, North Ritz Club in Syosset. We choose this location because (1) it is centrally located for our families in Queens and Suffolk county (2) the food is fabulous (3) the price is right for us (4) only one event at a time.

Re: need help!!!!
I wouldn't even bother w/ Carlyle on the Green. They were WAY expensive (for my budget anyway) and the person we met with looked at us like we were kids and couldn't afford it.

Re: need help!!!!
Check out this website to research venues by price range. I wouldn't decide on anyplace based upon the website, which can be VERY deceiving . . . go there in person!
