long story short my FH has not received confirmation and since our wedding is in April of 2010 there is no longer enough time for him to receive. he wanted to have our ceremony at the botanical gardens. while i do agree that it will be beautiful, i want to get married in church. (you know the dream of walking down the aisle & all) my mom found a church & priest who will marry us without him receiving confirmation. he feels that since we do not attend church every weekend the botanical gardens is fine. i need a couple of good lines to convince him.
please help!!!
TIA

Re: need help
my fh never made his communion, let alone his confirmation....he of course would have preferred getting married at the rh or somewhere like the gardens but like you, i wanted to get married in a church.
basically, i explained to him how important it was to me and my family that i get married in my church. once he realized this was my wedding dream, he agreed, of course he doesn't get the whole unity candle and bo-k for the blessed mother thing, but he will deal with it.

Is he AGAINST a church wedding, or just doesnt care either way?? If he's against it, you'll have to listen to his point of view.
However, if he doesn't care either way, you should tell him how its very important to you. You'll only get married once and if this is your dream, hopefully he'll agree.

we are getting married at the RH. i never received my confirmation. i did not want to get married in a church so thankfully, my fiance was ok with getting married at the RH. if she wanted to get married in the church... i dont know what would have happened.
i agree with Kater... if he's AGAINST the church... then you should hear him out

hes not against it, he just doesn't understand why we have to get married in church since we don't go every weekend.

Re: need help
the botanical gardens is beautiful!!!!! it wouldnt be so bad and the pics would be amazing !!! but i understand what u mean about the church .. personally i would love the garden ..
i think the best way to do it is ack him why he doesnt want the church and then hit him with the ' ive been dreaming about my wedding since i was 3 line ' if that doesnt convince him i dont know what will

Re: need help
my fh did not get confirmed either. He did NOT want to get married in a church, My family is pretty religious (my parents went to see the Pope during one of his speeches in Rome!!) and they would prefer me to get married in a church but it is not something he believes in and I did not want to force it. There is an aisle at the RH! lol

Re: need help
i was not confirmed or anything and my fh is.....i preferred not to get married in a church but i always told him if he wanted the church i would have no problem with it...he ended up not wanting it to be in the church though.
i say unless he has a reason for being against getting married in a church than he should be willing to do it if its important to you...

Re: need help
FH didnt do his communion or confirmation and didnt see the need to get married in church...especially since either of us is religious. But I always wanted a church wedding...so he just has to deal...and hasnt really had any complaints about it. Just tell FH how much it means to you...and how you would always feel like you missed out on the church ceremony if you skip it. You dont want any regrets

Re: need help
Not for nothing... there is enough time for him to do confirmation next spring... we were getting married in April of 2010 originally, and Easter is on April 4, 2010... so he'd be confirmed two weeks before your wedding if he waited until next year.
FH started his classes in late September this year and will finish on Easter.
Plenty of churches will do the wedding if one of you is confirmed and not the other.
