Need help advice about JOBS

Hi ladies a quick non wedding related question...

I was working for an investment firm in nyc....

I worked as an executive administrative assistant for the director of hr and business development....

She and I were on great terms until I got offered a position in the finance department.....

I got transferred to the fixed income group and was promised more money and promised to keep my vacation days and I was told I would be able to collect 2 huge bonuses that the financial group is entitled too....

I accepted the position and she flipped... I trained my replacement and I started working at the other department

I never got a pay increase....
I worked an extra 4 hours a day...
I lost my accrued vacation because she said it was technically a new department....

SAME COMPANY...

Then I was told that I was going to be transferred to CT within the next 2 months...

I became very ill and needed to go to the doctor I had a kidney infection and needed to stay on antibiotics I was told if I took a day off I would lose my job....

I resigned...

Now I have been temping but the agency I am with informed me the market is slowing up and I haven't worked for about a month.....

I want a regular job....

The thing is I dont know what to do about references... surely she wont give me a good review......

I know how important references are....

I am so hindered by this that I am afraid to go on an interview.....

Can I use someone else....

What to do...

I have a finance degree from Hofstra...
I am quadrilingual and I am UNEMPLOYED....

The honeymoon is certainly over...

Did you work at any other places? Is there anybody else at your old job that you can give as a reference, maybe somebody in human resources.

I have a couple of people but no one in HR since she is the director ......

I did work at other places but none with such a 'NAME' and now I think it is really hard without some kind of extra push to get in there..

I feel like I am out of luck...

One of my friends offered to say she was my boss she works for another company that I never worked at....

I am sure that they can check...

What am I going to do..

I guess start from the bottom....

it doesnt have to be somebody in HR, whomever else you can use as a reference is good.

Ok when they ask why I left shold I say that they are moving ....

That is a good reason, if the company is moving to CT then that is a good reason.

If you aren't sure of the reference that she will give, you could have a friend call up and act like a prospective employer. Then you will know for sure what she will say about you. A lot of times they don't go into too much detail - just confirm the work dates, whether you were on time, etc.

Just and FYI.... If you used the compnay you last worked for as a reference, they can't say anything other than, 'yes, she worked here from this date until this date'... they are allowed to elaborate about your employment.

You can use the people that u have kept in touch with as ref. it doesn't have to be your boss in HR. and as a prior poster mentioned...HR can only verify that you worked there and nothing else.
