Our wedding is on August 18th, 08. When shall have guests RSVP by? Is a month before the wedding OK? I have noticed some brides have up to 1 1/2 months before the wedding. What is the most appropiate?

Re: Need help---ASAP
im getting married the day after you. our rsvp date is july 17.
we are going to mail on the earlier side because we have a lot of OOT guests, some who didnt get STDs and we want to give them time to make arrangements. also, a lot of people book flights and make plans during the summer so a little more lead time is good.
we are probably going to mail out invites the middle or end of may. that will give me june to mailbox stalk (i'm going to be in NY half of the summer) and it will give us an idea of guest count because with so many OOTers it can be unpredictable.

Wedding date: 12/8 RSVP date: 11/5 mail date: 9/15 STD mail date: 7/6
We had a lot of oot guests, and a sizable B list. We wanted enough time for late people to trickle in and then get the B's out.

I was thinking about mailing out the OOT guests their invitation the last week of April or first week of May and the rest of the guests mid to end of May. My OOT guests are located in Egypt, Germany, Italy, Florida, California, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Boston I want to make sure they have plenty of time to make arrangements. Is that OK?

We are doing one month. That should be plenty of time.

Re: Need help---ASAP
This is really helpful...because I didnt realize that it was ok to make your rsvp date 1 month early...I wish I would have known this because I would have made my date to rsvp to the eparty earlier

Re: Need help---ASAP
a month is fine if you ask me, all though it cuts your b list invite time, do you have a large b list?

This is the same timetable as us.
If you're doing a B list, you should have a sooner rsvp for your A list and mail them out sooner

Yep. I think that's fine. The only problem would be if some of your non-OOTG's are related to some of your OOTGs and they start talking ('did you get your invitation??' 'no...hope i'm invited'). That would be the only problem I see with that scheme. I say, the earlier you can get them out the better. We were aiming to give people 2 months before the rsvp date, but then procrastinated and didn't get them out as soon as we wanted. Original target mail date was Labor day...
But definitely leave yourself some room to send out your Bs. Consider having a small number of B response cards printed (25 or 30) with a later rsvp date too.
